2018-19 Premier League – Saturday 6th April Matches Betting Preview

With it being FA Cup semi-final weekend we have just three matches in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as the bottom half of the table comes under the spotlight on a day that could be significant for one or two.

All three matches kick off in the usual 3pm slot which means that none of them are on TV in the UK although there are many ways of keeping on top of the action for those who want to follow how the afternoon pans out.

Bournemouth vs Burnley

One of the matches on Saturday afternoon sees Bournemouth taking on Burnley in a match much more significant for the visitors to the Vitality Stadium than it is for the home side. Burnley are right in relegation trouble and a win here could ease them away from things.

Bournemouth have enough points on the board to be safe of relegation issues so now it is up to them how they finish the season. Their motivation should be to end strongly as a top half finish isn’t beyond them but that is largely guesswork. If you are a player of teams having something to play for over those who don’t you’ll be on Burnley here but I can’t say I’m overly rushing to get involved. I’ll sit this one out.

Huddersfield Town vs Leicester City

Already relegated Huddersfield Town are in action on Saturday when they welcome Leicester City to the John Smith’s Stadium. The Terriers know they are heading for the Championship so it is all about whether they can take a scalp or two with them on their way down.

Leicester City actually have the chance to move into seventh position in the table with a win here which seems to be their aim for the remainder of the season so with something to play for you would think they will win this one but they are priced accordingly and offer little value. Huddersfield are the square root of awful but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone doesn’t respect them between now and the end of the season and comes a cropper against them. There’s no value here.

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace

The other match on Saturday afternoon comes from what is fast becoming fortress St James’ Park as Newcastle United go in search of a sixth straight home win when they play host to Crystal Palace in a battle of two sides who will be fine this season but who need a win just to make sure.

Since Miguel Almiron arrived on Tyneside the Newcastle attacking unit has gone to a different dimension. Salomon Rondon has turned into Alan Shearer and even Ayose Perez is playing a tune too. No longer are they dull and boring under Benitez. Crystal Palace have been good on their travels this season but they were inept in every way at the new Tottenham Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Magpies have had extra time to prepare for this match and given the confidence they will have in front of their own fans I think there is plenty of value on them here. Hodgson needs to let the handbrake off this Palace side but that rarely happens. It is the home side for me.
