2018-19 Premier League – Saturday 9th March Matches Betting Preview

The Premier League season is building up to a wonderful crescendo and we head a step nearer to the conclusion of it this weekend, beginning with seven matches on a decent looking card on Saturday afternoon.

As ever we have action over three kick off times with proceedings at the top of the table and the bottom of it under the microscope over the course of the day. We might get a clearer picture of what will happen come the end of the campaign here.

Early Kick Off

The day begins at Selhurst Park the M23 derby is becoming more of a thing as Crystal Palace host their rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in a match which is pretty important for the away side. Brighton eased some of the pressure on their shoulders last week when they beat Huddersfield Town but now they face a Crystal Palace side who have the potential to be rampant with their attacking options.

3pm Matches

There are some key games here. All eyes will be on St Mary’s Stadium where Southampton will be looking for another victory to see if they can ease themselves away from the danger zone when they host Tottenham Hotspur who need to win to keep in control of their top four position. Cardiff City will be looking for the points for the same reason as Southampton and they host West Ham at the Cardiff City Stadium. The other side in deep trouble who need to win are Fulham. They head to the King Power Stadium for Brendan Rodgers’ first game in charge of Leicester City.

Two other matches take place in this traditional 3pm slot as Newcastle United take on an Everton side who have been underachieving under Marco Silva for much of the season with the other game seeing Huddersfield Town hosting Bournemouth in what might be a more open match than expected given the plight of the home side.

Late Game

The final match of a pretty busy day comes from the Etihad Stadium where the leaders Manchester City will look to open up a four point gap at the top of the table when they play host to Watford. The Hornets were took to the cleaners against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago and will be looking to avoid a repeat of that when they go up against Pep Guardiola’s men. A City win would significantly pile the pressure on Liverpool when they play on Sunday.

Betting

There are two bets I like over the course of Saturday and for once they begin in the early match where I think Crystal Palace can be too good for Brighton and Hove Albion. Brighton have only won twice on the road this season and one of them was at Huddersfield which might not even count. Palace have won three of their last five and are looking more sure in front of goal and with that in mind I expect them to get the day underway with a home win.

The other bet I like is for goals at the King Power Stadium where a wonderfully attacking Leicester City take on a woefully poor defensive unit in Fulham. Fulham don’t have the capability to sit back and defend and their position in the table is going to negate them from doing that even if they wanted to. Leicester are good going forward but I don’t see Rodgers solving their defensive troubles until the summer. We should get more than 2.75 goals in this match.
