Preview

The big match of the afternoon comes from the Etihad Stadium where the two Manchester clubs collide in one of the matches of the season. If they are going to be title contenders then United can’t possibly afford to lose this. If City win here it would lay down a real marker for the rest of the campaign.

Liverpool will hope to put the pressure on both City and Chelsea earlier in the afternoon when they play host to a Fulham side who look devoid of any confidence whatsoever and then Chelsea will look to answer their result when they host a talented Everton outfit at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal will look to continue their unbeaten run when Wolves are in town in the other match.

Betting

All four home sides are overwhelming favourites on Sunday and an accumulator on the lot would be popular but the last three all have trappy opponents so that isn’t really anything that interests me. I would argue all four home sides are probably shorter than they should be too so only one bet catches my eye here.

It comes in the derby match which sees Man City hosting Man Utd in a match where I fancy there will be goals. We know that Jose Mourinho often sets his side up to defend and contain in these big matches but I don’t think his side are good enough defensively to do that and their need to win might restrict his options of doing that. At some point I expect United to have to come out and have a go and given they have struggled to keep a clean sheet I’ve got to think that this could ignite nicely at some point. I’ll take over 3 here.
