2018-19 Premier League – Sunday 31st March Matches Betting Preview

The first weekend of Premier League action after the international break continues on Sunday afternoon with two matches in the division where the top end of the table is very much in the spotlight on a potentially big day of action.

Three of the four teams in action are either deeply involved in the title picture or the race for the top four which should bring with it a decent amount of quality and no shortage of tension and drama over the course of the afternoon.

Cardiff City vs Chelsea (14.05)

The action gets underway at the Cardiff City Stadium where the Welsh side Cardiff City watched on over Saturday’s action as their plight worsened. That means they need the points when they go up against a Chelsea side who need to win themselves to keep pace with the top four.

The big problem for Cardiff is that they have regularly been found out by the better sides in the division this season and any advantage they might have had from Chelsea having plenty away on international duty has been lessened with the extra day for this game. The one positive for Cardiff is this Chelsea side only play when they want. Given that I can’t be backing Chelsea but Cardiff do nothing for me either so this is a pretty comfortable swerve.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur (16.30)

The big match of the weekend comes in the second Sunday slot as Liverpool look to go back to the top of the table when they play host to Tottenham Hotspur in a match which a few weeks ago would have been a title six-pointer.

Spurs have fallen away in recent times though so they are playing just to stay in the top four here but that means the pressure is right on Liverpool for this contest. There were a few signs before the international break that the going might just be getting a bit tough for the Reds. They were nothing like as dominant in matches against Fulham, Burnley and Everton.

Somewhere deep in my mind I want to back Tottenham to get something from this match at the prices but they’ve done a lot of travelling as individuals this week which puts me off that so in the end the only thing I can offer up is a bet at the 13/10 that Sadio Mane finds the back of the net. He is in wonderful scoring form right now and will be coming in from that left side which exploits the weakness of the right side of Tottenham’s defence. To be fair the Senegalese star is good enough that he doesn’t need an opposition weakness in front of him. The fact that it is helps though and he’s my bet.

Tips

Back S.Mane to score anytime for a 3/10 stake at 2.30 with Bet365
