2018-19 Premier League – Tuesday 23rd April Matches Betting Preview

The compelling Premier League season continues on Tuesday evening when two more matches in the campaign take place as four sides look to catch up with the schedule after their various cup exploits so far this term.

Of the two fixtures we have the focus for the top four in attention while the relegation battle is also in the spotlight. One match is live on TV for us to watch and the other match will not be short of options to follow it. We’ll begin with the TV match.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Events at both ends of the table come under the spotlight when Tottenham Hotspur host Brighton and Hove Albion. Spurs need the points to consolidate their chances of making the top four at the end of the season while Brighton can ease their relegation fears with a win of their own.

Spurs are in great form at the minute and it would be a huge surprise if they slip up here. Admittedly their squad is being tested to the full but they have enough quality in their ranks to get the job done. Brighton on the other hand are in a right slump and actually have looked like they’ve downed tools in recent times.

I expect Spurs to win this and given that Brighton haven’t scored a goal in their last five matches added to the fact that Tottenham have yet to concede a goal in their new stadium I think the even money on Spurs to win to nil looks the way forward here. Spurs won this fixture 2-0 last season and something similar should be the outcome here.

Watford vs Southampton

The other match on the evening sees the FA Cup finalists Watford hosting a Southampton side who still want another positive result to guarantee Premier League football for another season in what is probably a low key clash even then.

You would think over the remainder of the season Watford boss Javi Gracia is going to rotate his personnel to ensure those who he wants to be in prime fitness for the cup final will be and I guess Southampton will change tact to secure the point or two they need to get over the line in the survival battle. Either way, I’m not convinced this is much of a betting proposition.
