2018-19 Premier League – Wednesday 30th January Matches Betting Preview

The midweek fixture list in the Premier League concludes on Wednesday evening when the leaders Liverpool will look to pick up three more points in their quest for a first title in the PL era, on a night when four fixtures take place.

Chelsea and Tottenham are among the sides also looking to pick up valuable points on Wednesday night, while a couple of teams at the wrong end of the table will be looking to enhance their positions, so we should be in for a decent night of action.

Wednesday’s matches are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated)

Bournemouth vs Chelsea

Southampton vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool vs Leicester City (8pm)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Watford (8pm)

All eyes will be on Anfield to see how Liverpool react to Manchester City’s result on Tuesday evening, when they take on a Leicester City side, who are one of few teams to have put up a decent challenge to the Reds so far in this campaign. That was at the King Power though but Liverpool are a different animal at Anfield.

Elsewhere Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to stay up with the pace in the battle for fourth spot. The Blues head to Dorset to take on a dangerous Bournemouth side while Tottenham host Watford at Wembley Stadium. The other match in the division sees Southampton and Crystal Palace facing off in what is something of a six pointer.

Betting

Unlike on Tuesday night, the bigger or better sides could be a little more vulnerable in these matches. All three face testing opposition and have either injuries or a hectic schedule to go up against as well so in truth I’m not all that keen to back any of them. There is one bet I like on the card though.

Southampton and Crystal Palace are just on the edge of the relegation spots so they are both likely to see their match as a must win game and I think that will lead us to a few goals in the match. The last two meetings between these two at St Mary’s Stadium have yielded more than 2.5 goals and I think this one will too. Palace are a much better outfit on the road when they have space in behind for the likes of Zaha and Townsend to operate while Southampton are slowly improving at home. Southampton’s last five at home have gone over 2.5 goals and four of Palace’s last five on the road have. Those runs can extend here.
