2018-19 Premier League – Wednesday 3rd April Matches Betting Preview

The mini midweek set of matches in the Premier League concludes with three more games on Wednesday evening on a night where the title picture could take another twist. Events at the bottom are also in focus across the piece too.

As with Tuesday, we have one match on TV in the UK and there are the various other ways of keeping up with the other two games. We’ll kick the preview off with the TV game which is probably the biggest one on the night.

Man City vs Cardiff City

Manchester City will look to go back on top of the Premier League table when they host relegation threatened Cardiff City at the Etihad Stadium. A win here will take Pep Guardiola’s charges up to the summit once again and keep their destiny in their own hands.

Cardiff head into the match five points adrift of Burnley with this their game in hand of the Clarets so their need is beginning to get a little desperate it must be said. Their record against the top sides this season leaves plenty to be desired too and you just wonder how much the blow of losing in the fashion they did on Sunday will hurt them.

I don’t think anyone other than the biggest Cardiff fan will expect anything other than a Man City win here and how big the win is remains to be seen. Sergio Aguero is out here and you’ve got to think one or two attacking stars will be saved for the semi-final on Saturday so it could be that the 3/1 on Gabriel Jesus to score first is an each way bet to nothing. If he doesn’t score the first goal but scores later in the game we get our money back so it is worth chancing that he’s the one to open the scoring.

Chelsea vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Chelsea will look to return to the top four of the table on Wednesday night when they play host to Brighton and Hove Albion, who themselves could do with a few more points to ease the immediate threat of relegation against them.

Chelsea won on Sunday but they were pathetic for an hour at Cardiff and there is no way I can be taking this lot anymore. They play when they want to and now you can’t even trust the manager to put their best team on the pitch. That said I’m in no rush to get stuck into Brighton, who just don’t score enough goals for my liking and although they shouldn’t have given their position, they could easily have an eye on Saturday’s cup semi. I’ll leave this alone.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace

The other match of the night is a London derby but for Tottenham Hotspur fans it is one of their biggest matches in years as it is the evening they go to their new home for the first time. Crystal Palace are the first opponents at the new stadium.

Spurs will be looking for a win to keep themselves in the top four here and they go up against a Crystal Palace side who have already given Manchester City and Liverpool plenty of problems on the road this season. Tottenham’s form has completely nosedived in recent times so they really need the new stadium bounce here if they can get it.

I like both teams to score here. Crystal Palace have scored three at City and three at Anfield this season so they’ll take the game to Tottenham and can hurt them in the wide areas. You would think Tottemham will have a big lift at their new ground so the 5/6 on both to score looks acceptable to me.
