2018-19 Premier League – Wednesday 5th December Matches Betting Preview

The midweek round of matches in the Premier League conclude on Wednesday evening when the six remaining games are played out. The bottom of the table took much of the spotlight on Tuesday but the challengers to Manchester City come out to play on a busy evening of action.

City picked up three points on Tuesday evening so those looking to chase them down will be under pressure on what has the makings of being a dramatic night of football. One of them is on TV but there are oceans of ways of keeping up with the others.

Wednesday’s matches are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated)

Burnley v Liverpool

Everton v Newcastle United

Fulham v Leicester City

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Chelsea

Manchester United v Arsenal (20.00)

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton (20.00)

Preview

Given City have opened up a five point gap at the top all eyes will be on Liverpool to see if they can close the gap again when they head to Turf Moor to take on a Burnley side who look there for the taking. While that is going on the live match in the UK will be the one from Old Trafford where Arsenal will look to continue their unbeaten run when they take on a very much hit or miss Manchester United side.

Tottenham will still be reeling from their loss to Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday afternoon and they will look to take out their frustrations on Southampton, whose era post-Mark Hughes begins at Wembley Stadium. Chelsea had a good win on Sunday and will look to back that up when they head to Wolves while Leicester City meet their former manager for the first time when they face up to Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham side. Everton host Newcastle in the other match.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets on Wednesday night and I’ll begin in Merseyside where Newcastle have a very poor record. It is particularly dodgy at Goodison Park and if they turn up and play like they did on Saturday they are going to come up short once again. One of the problems Newcastle have away against established sides is they don’t carry a potent goal threat from open play so Everton should be able to get into a groove and commit the right amount of men forward to get the job done. Everton will want to respond to defeat on Sunday and I think they will be all out to get a good win here. I expect them to get it too.

I also expect to see goals at Old Trafford because Manchester United can’t defend and I’m not convinced Arsenal are a great deal better in that department. Both sides will know deep down going into the match that if they are going to win it they will need to score goals and as a result I can see a few finding the back of the net over the course of the evening. Arsenal have the leading scorer in the Premier League in their ranks in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang while United have potent forwards too. It all points to more than 3 goals to me.
