The second round of fixtures in Sky Bet League One take place on Saturday when all 24 sides in the division continue the start to their campaigns. Those who picked up three points last weekend will be looking to back that up with another win here while teams who failed to win on the opening day will want a victory here.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
AFC Wimbledon v Coventry City
Blackpool v Portsmouth
Bradford City v Barnsley
Bristol Rovers v Accrington Stanley
Charlton Athletic v Shrewsbury Town
Doncaster Rovers v Wycombe Wanderers
Gillingham v Burton Albion
Luton Town v Sunderland
Oxford United v Fleetwood Town
Plymouth Argyle v Southend United
Rochdale v Peterborough United
Scunthorpe United v Walsall
Big Matches
One match jumps off the page on Saturday both from a personal point of view and a footballing one. It is the match at Kenilworth Road where Luton Town play their first home League One match in 10 years when they welcome the biggest side in the division to town in Sunderland. Barnsley opened up the season with an emphatic win and they go to Bradford who also won on the opening day.
Best of the Rest
Blackpool will be under new management even at this stage of the season and they play host to Portsmouth while beaten play-off finalists Shrewsbury will look to get their campaign going when they make the trip to The Valley to take on Charlton Athletic. Peterborough United head to Rochdale while Scunthorpe United host Walsall. Burton Albion will look to put last week’s defeat behind them when they go on the road to Gillingham.

Betting
I was really impressed with Portsmouth last weekend even though they rode their luck against Luton. I don’t think they will run into too many performances as good as the one Luton delivered in that match so the fact they came out on top bodes well for them. Portsmouth look organised and in Brett Pitman they have a scorer. They have pace out wide and look well set up to me. Blackpool look in a bit of disarray with Gary Bowyer suddenly quitting. They had their goalkeeper to thank for coming away from Wycombe with a point last week but I think they’ll need a lot more than their keeper if they are going to get anything out of Portsmouth. Pompey DNB is the way forward here.
Charlton Athletic shouldn’t be lacking for motivation when they play host to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon. It was the Shrews who did for them in the play-offs last term so revenge might be a word used often in the home dressing room. This is a much changed Shrewsbury side with the likes of Stefan Payne leaving now too and while players have come in to replace those who left you would think there would need to be a settling in period. Charlton were unlucky to lose at Sunderland last week but if they can play here like they did for the first hour or so there they should have more than enough to get the job done.
