We have a midweek set of matches in Sky Bet League One this week with all 12 games taking place over the course of Tuesday evening and there are a couple of huge clashes in among them as we head towards the run in.
We will have just nine rounds of matches left in the division after this one so the points are now increasing in significance which should make for an entertaining and competitive evening in what could be challenging conditions for all concerned.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows:
AFC Wimbledon v Peterborough United
Barnsley v Sunderland
Blackpool v Doncaster Rovers
Bradford City v Luton Town
Charlton Athletic v Burton Albion
Coventry City v Fleetwood Town
Gillingham v Bristol Rovers
Plymouth Argyle v Shrewsbury Town
Rochdale v Oxford United
Scunthorpe United v Southend United
Walsall v Portsmouth
Wycombe Wanderers v Accrington Stanley
Big Matches
The pick of the matches on the evening is the one from Oakwell where Barnsley in second host Sunderland in third in a game which could well determine the outlook of the promotion race. Leaders Luton have the chance to gain on one of them when they make the trip to face Bradford City while Portsmouth head to the Bescot Stadium to go up against a Walsall side who could do with a win themselves to ease their nerves.
Best of the Rest
It has the potential to be a big evening at the bottom of the table too with four sides in a spot of relegation trouble meeting as Rochdale host Oxford United and Gillingham take on Bristol Rovers. Plymouth Argyle face Shrewsbury Town at Home Park and AFC Wimbledon host Peterborough United. Blackpool play their second home match in a few days when they go up against Doncaster Rovers while two sides in poor form meet at Adams Park when Wycombe Wanderers take on Accrington Stanley in a match the purists probably should stay away from!

Betting
In the expected conditions I’m not going to plough too much of my hard earned onto this card because there could be a bit of a lottery effect to things but there is one team I’m happy to take who should be effective in these conditions if anyone are and that is AFC Wimbledon who I probably would have liked anyway.
Generally when Santa has done his thing Peterborough United stop doing theirs and that appears to be the case this season with them having won just two of their last nine. Having been on fire on the road earlier in the campaign they not seemingly can’t buy consistency and so AFC Wimbledon, no strangers to being direct, could be the ones to profit. I gave up on AFC Wimbledon a while ago but they’ve found some life, winning three of their last five and keeping three clean sheets in that time. I think they are worth a bet here.
