2018 ATP World Tour Finals Tennis – Singles and Doubles Finals Betting Preview

The final match of the singles and doubles season takes place at the ATP World Tour Finals on Sunday when the titles of both competitions are decided at the o2 Arena in London. Huge money and plenty of ranking points are on the line on a big day of tennis.

The doubles final precedes the singles final on Sunday with two exciting pairs and two of the very best singles players taking to the courts on the biggest day of the season outside of the Grand Slams.

Mike Bryan & Jack Sock vs Nicolas Mahut & Pierre-Hugues Herbert

The doubles final sees the fifth seeds Mike Bryan and Jack Sock up against the French pair who have an exciting end to the season as Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert aren’t just in the final here but will represent France in the Davis Cup final next weekend.

The American pair have been amazing since they got together with one of their few defeats coming in this tournament to the team they face in this final. It should be said that they were already through to the semi-final by then and knew they would be playing successive sessions so how much we can read into that result remains to be seen. One thing we do know is they were in great form in the other matches.

Mahut and Herbert have turned their o2 hoodoo completely around in the last three matches. In fairness they started the week slow but there has been nothing bad about their play since the opening game and they will fancy their chances here for sure. I don’t see them winning this final. I’ve not once thought the Americans won’t be the champions and I still don’t. They were my pick before the week and I’m already on them from that and that’s perfectly fine for my interest in this match.

Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev

The singles final sees the world number one Novak Djokovic taking on the best of the next generation in Alexander Zverev for what many call the fifth major of the season. The two met in the group stage and Djokovic won 64 61.

That was probably as hard as the Serb has been pushed this week. He has looked imperious throughout the tournament and should be expected to produce his best performance in this final as he so often does in the big matches. Credit must go to Zverev for seeing off Federer in what became controversial circumstances and he will have to get over that emotional rollercoaster pretty quickly to be competitive here.

We know Zverev can take it to big opponents in big matches. You don’t win three Masters 1000 titles without being able to handle big occasions but there are hurdles and then there are massive obstacles and this is very much the latter for the German. I hope he gives a game showing given the size of the match but ultimately Djokovic looks untouchable this week. I expect a pretty dominant win from the Serbian.
