2018 European Championship Darts – Day 2 Afternoon Session Betting Preview

The first round of the European Championship concludes with an afternoon session of darts on Friday when the bottom half of the field play their opening matches of the event out in Dortmund in Germany.

The first night of action delivered some wonderful darts and some surprise results and it would be something of a shock if the same is not produced by the stars on show on Friday afternoon. Daryl Gurney, Mensur Suljovic and James Wade are just some of the big names taking to the stage on Friday.

First Four Matches

Two men who have decent campaigns on the European Tour get the action up and running on Friday afternoon when Jonny Clayton takes on James Wilson before Darren Webster and Stephen Bunting meet once again. Gerwyn Price arrived into this tournament as the number three seed and he will look to justify that in the third match of the day when he plays Kyle Anderson. Mensur Suljovic takes us to the halfway mark when he goes up against Cristo Reyes.

Later Four Matches

The former World Grand Prix champion Daryl Gurney gets the second half of the afternoon underway when he takes on Ricky Evans who is a debutant in this tournament. The local crowds will then come to life when Max Hopp goes up against William O’Connor before the other German star Martin Schindler takes to the stage. He meets James Wade and then the first round concludes with the tie of the round as Adrian Lewis and Dave Chisnall clash for a place in the second round.

Betting

There isn’t a whole lot that I like in this session. In truth I’m waiting for the longer formats later in the competition but there is one bet which catches my eye and that comes in the second match of the afternoon where I think Darren Webster is a good thing against Stephen Bunting.

Bunting keeps on threatening to deliver some of his best darts but they come along far too sporadically for my liking unlike Webster who is becoming very consistent, particularly on the TV stages. These two met in the World Grand Prix last month and Webster barely allowed Bunting a leg. Webster has been fast out of the blocks for a while now and that is exactly what this first to six format calls for. I think he’ll see off the former world champion.
