2018 European Masters Snooker – Day 2 Betting Preview

It is a full day at the European Masters on Tuesday as the first round of the tournament draws to a close out in Lommel in Belgium. The majority of the big names who were on show on Monday survived and some are back in action on Tuesday.

There is a decent little card across the three sessions on Tuesday with the headline attraction the world number one and China Championship winner Mark Selby. Judd Trump, Luca Brecel and Mark Allen complete a decent cast list.

Morning Session

Neil Robertson is the big name on show in the morning session when he takes on Andrew Higginson in a match he is expected to win. The best match of the session could be the one on the other main table when Peter Ebdon goes up against Ali Carter. They are on the main tables while on the outside ones Yan Bingtao faces Alan McManus and Ross Muir meets Lee Walker to complete the session.

Afternoon Session

Liang Wenbo is the main draw in the first round of matches in the afternoon session. He meets Alfie Burden while on the other table occupied by the cameras Mark Davis and Scott Donaldson do battle. There is only one other match in the first set of games in this session and it sees Zhao Xintong taking on Mark King.

The second set of matches sees Judd Trump continue his title defence when he takes on Liam Highfield while Luca Brecel will hope to make it into the second round when he faces the Chinese player Luo Honghao. Two other seasoned professionals compete away from the spotlight when Dave Gilbert faces Elliot Slessor and Ricky Walden goes up against Rory McLeod.

Evening Session

All eyes will be on Mark Selby in this session to see if he can overcome the long flight and possible jet lag when he takes on Sam Craigie. Barry Hawkins is also on one of the main tables when he meets Craig Steadman in a match he’ll be expected to win. Gary Wilson goes up against Stuart Carrington in the other match on the early evening schedule.

Mark Allen will take centre stage in the second set of matches in the evening. He takes on Ashley Hugill while Jimmy Robertson faces Zhang Yong on the other table. Two matches complete the day on the outside tables when Ken Doherty goes up against Zhou Yuelong and Jak Jones meets Adam Duffy.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the day with the first of them being on Scott Donaldson who is enjoying a good season. He made the semi-final of the Paul Hunter Classic and then enjoyed wins over Stephen Maguire and Jack Lisowski last week so he’s in decent nick. I highlighted that Mark Davis wasn’t going great guns when I took him on in China and he subsequently lost 5-0. He might be more competitive here but I still fancy the Scot to prevail.

Mark Selby has to be taken on. He should still have enough to beat Sam Craigie but it would be no surprise if he struggles and labours his way through given that he was in China 48hrs before his match. Craigie needs a big showing after regressing a touch but we’ve seen in the past what he has to offer. I think he can take a couple of frames here. How many more he can take remains to be seen but he’s got two in him.

Tips

Back S.Donaldson to beat M.Davis for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Coral

Back him here:

Back S.Craigie (+2.5 frames) to beat M.Selby for a 4/10 stake at 1.73 with Betfred
