Afternoon Session

The action gets underway with a battle of two men who have competed in Lakeside finals down the years when Dave Chisnall takes on Mark Webster. They are followed by Gerwyn Price and Jan Dekker. The Lakeside finalists keep on coming in the third match of the afternoon when Stephen Bunting is up on stage. He faces Ron Meulenkamp with Joe Cullen playing Josh Payne in a battle of a couple of youngsters.

After the break Daryl Gurney will look to get his year back on track when he goes up against Darren Johnson before the match of the afternoon when Michael Smith meets the Winmau World Master Krzysztof Ratajski. The afternoon concludes with Steve Beaton facing the home hopeful Martin Schindler before Simon Whitlock meets Michael Rasztovits to round off the session.

Evening Session

Darren Webster is first on the stage in the evening session. He will play the fastest thrower in town in the form of Ricky Evans before Jonny Clayton plays James Wilson in a good looking match. Indeed the beginning of the evening could be full of tasty matches with James Wade playing Robert Thornton in the third game of the night. Rob Cross then plays Kyle Anderson in the final match before the break.

After the interval it is the turn of the World Matchplay finalist Mensur Suljovic to take to the stage. He goes up against Andrew Gilding before the match of the last 32 when Adrian Lewis faces Mervyn King. Michael van Gerwen takes to the stage in the penultimate match of the night when he plays Cristo Reyes and a couple of wily veterans close the show on Saturday as Ian White takes on Terry Jenkins for a place in the last 16.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet on Saturday afternoon and I’m going to take on the home man Martin Schindler who I’m still not convinced is quite ready for this level just yet. In fairness to him he has landed the good draw of Steve Beaton who is only seeded for this tournament because Peter Wright pulled out but I’m still not convinced he has enough to win.

Beaton generally goes well in Germany and was playing well prior to the World Matchplay whereas it has been quite some time since we last saw Schindler in top form. Schindler did have a match on Friday which might boost him but he will need to play a whole lot better here than he did there where he only had four scores of 140 or more in 10 legs. That rarely gets it done at this level and without that significant improvement Beaton can win this.

Tips

Back S.Beaton to beat M.Schindler for a 4/10 stake at 2.00 with Coral
