2018 Grand Slam of Darts – Semi-Finals Betting Preview

The Grand Slam of Darts draws to a close on Sunday and it does so with what should be a top notch day of darts in Wolverhampton as four of the best in the world battle it out over long distances for a huge title.

We have two semi-finals in the afternoon and then the final in the evening to enjoy on what should be one of the best days of darts of the year. Sadly as ever in this tournament time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the final but we’ll go through the semi-finals here.

Gerwyn Price vs Mensur Suljovic

The opening semi-final sees two men who are continuing their path towards the top of the game meeting in one of their biggest matches when Gerwyn Price takes on Mensur Suljovic for a place in another major final.

It has been a rollercoaster of a week for Price so far with two titanic tussles against Simon Whitlock. He came out on the right side of the one that mattered in the quarter final and will be looking for all that toughness here. I think he’s up against it against Suljovic though. Whitlock missed a host of chances to dump Price out but I don’t see Suljovic doing that if given the chance.

In saying that I don’t think there is going to be a huge amount in this match unless there is a raft of missed doubles from Price. Generally they don’t tend to come until the crunch stages though and by that time over 27.5 legs can have come in safely.

Michael van Gerwen vs Gary Anderson

The second semi-final has all the potential to be a Grand Slam of Darts classic as the two best players in the world in terms of ability collide in what will hopefully be a blockbuster of a contest when Michael van Gerwen takes on Gary Anderson.

Battles between these two in the past have rarely failed to live up to expectations and I’m sure this one won’t either. You would think this would be a close contest with it coming down to who pins the doubles the best to win the match. Anderson has regularly been checking out better than van Gerwen this week and in what should be a tight match that could prove the difference.

I’m expecting a ton a 180s in this match. Both men play to a nice rhythm and know their way around the 60 bed. You would think we’re going to get somewhere close to 30 legs in the match and that should be more than enough to lead us beyond 18.5 180s.
