2018 International Championship Snooker – Day 3 Betting Preview

The second round of the International Championship takes place over two sessions of action out in China on Tuesday as the biggest tournament of the ranking season so far continues at a pretty hefty pace.

Monday was carnage for some big names who hit the dust including the world champion Mark Williams so already there is a bit of an open feel to certain parts of the draw. The stars that are left might be forgiven for being on edge.

Morning Session

The two matches on the main tables in the first session of the day look like cracking contests. Marco Fu is up on one of them when he faces a Jack Lisowski who will surely win a tournament at some point this season. On the other TV table the Chinese young star Yan Bingtao goes up against Ryan Day in what is another juicy looking battle.

The outside tables will be full in both sessions on the day. Barry Hawkins is probably the pick of the players on them. He faces Martin Gould while Martin O’Donnell faces Tom Ford. Our outright bet David Gilbert is on show in this session. He meets Eden Sharav with Mark King playing Matthew Stevens. There is a really good looking match between Ali Carter and Stephen Maguire which deserves a bigger stage than it has got whole Zhou Yuelong takes on Sunny Akani in the other match.

Afternoon Session

There are some fantastic matches on show in this second session of Tuesday although perhaps not on the main tables. World number one Mark Selby is on one of the main tables when he goes up against Rob Milkins while all local eyes will be on the other table when Ding Junhui takes on Zhao Xintong in what should be a decent enough match.

The pick of the matches comes on the outside tables where Neil Robertson goes up against Joe Perry while elsewhere on the card Ian Burns meets Stuart Carrington, Xiao Guodong goes up against Yuan Sijun, Michael Holt meets Judd Trump, Alfie Burden faces David Lilley and Mark Allen meets the tough to beat Hossein Vafaei.

Betting

A number of players this week have been remarking how easy the tables are playing so I think the best thing to do is to play over 1.5 centuries in a couple of matches that sees very accomplished scorers taking each other one.

Those matches are the ones between Joe Perry and Neil Robertson and the Chinese battle between Zhao Xintong and Ding Junhui. All four men score big but especially Robertson and Ding. They could cover these lines on their own but I don’t think they will need to as I would imagine Zhao and Perry will score well too. Whoever covers it these lines can be passed.

Tips
