The second day of action at the qualifying competition for the International Championship takes place in Barnsley on Wednesday and after the big names all made it safely through on Tuesday another batch of them will be looking to progress across the day.
The likes of Stephen Maguire, Ryan Day and Marco Fu are among the stellar names taking to the green baize over the course of the three sessions of play. 14 matches will take place in total on the day with much to enjoy.
Morning Session
Joe Perry is back in action on one of the main tables less than 72hrs after the heartache of losing the European Masters final in Lommel. He faces Harvey Chandler for a place in the Chinese event while on the other streamed offering Stephen Maguire will take on Duane Jones. Three matches take place on the outside tables with Chris Wakelin up against Thor Chuan Leong on one of them, Robert Milkins facing Andy Lee on another and Robbie Williams playing Yuan Sijun in the last of the games.
Afternoon Session
A legend of the game is on the streamed table in the second match of the day when Jimmy White goes up against Fergal O’Brien while the other match in front of the cameras sees two Welshmen going at it when Ryan Day and Lee Walker meet. There are three more matches on the outside tables with Martin Gould a standout name on one of them. He plays Zhang Yong while Alan McManus meets Jamie Clarke on another. The final match sees Dominic Dale going up against Eden Sharav.
Evening Session
The last four matches of the day take place in the evening session with Marco Fu the star name on show in them. He takes on the German player Simon Lichtenberg on one of the main tables with Ricky Walden on show on the other. He meets David Lilley. The other two matches sees Michael Holt facing Joe O’Connor and Michael White playing the Chinese player Luo Honghao who will be eager to qualify for a tournament in his homeland.

Betting
Only one bet interests me over the course of Wednesday and it comes in the afternoon session as Fergal O’Brien takes on Jimmy White on one of the streamed tables. It has not been a good start to the campaign for White who has won just one match so far and that was against a Latvian amateur in the first round of the Riga Masters.
Fergal on the other hand has been going along very nicely. He has wins over Marco Fu, Ali Carter, Shaun Murphy and Luca Brecel already this season and is scoring about as well as he has ever done. That scoring added onto a very solid tactical game should make him hard to beat. I expect the Irishman to win this and come through no worse than 6-3.
