2018 International Championship Snooker Qualifying – Day 4 Betting Preview

The final day of International Championship qualifying takes place in Barnsley on Friday as those who are yet to compete and who haven’t had their matches held over to the main event get stuck in looking to book their spot in the main draw.

We’ve seen plenty of established names in action already this week but there are a bunch more of them on Friday including John Higgins, Mark Allen, Shaun Murphy and Stuart Bingham. That quartet alone should ensure a decent standard.

Morning Session

There were meant to be five matches in this session but the news that Jamie Jones has been suspended has taken us down to four. Dave Gilbert and Tom Ford are the players who get to grace the streamed tables. Ford meets Joe Swail while Gilbert has a tasty looking tussle with Sam Craigie which is worth watching. The other two matches sees Anthony Hamilton playing James Wattana and Rory McLeod meeting Alfie Burden.

Afternoon Session

The big names begin to come out to play in this afternoon session and they are on the main tables too as you would expect. John Higgins is one of the players on show and he faces Peter Lines while The Masters champion Mark Allen will be on the other streamed offering. He goes up against Paul Davison. The three matches on the outside tables see Scott Donaldson meeting John Astley, Hossein Vafaei going up against Niu Zhuang and Michael Georgiou playing Billy Joe Castle.

Evening Session

The final session of play in Barnsley this week sees Stuart Bingham and Shaun Murphy looking to qualify for the main draw by winning their matches. Both are on the main tables with Bingham up against Chen Feilong while Murphy has his hands full against Sam Baird. Two matches will take place away from the cameras and they see Kurt Maflin facing Jak Jones and Zhou Yuelong going up against Allan Taylor.

Betting

After a decent day on Thursday I’m not going to push the boat out too much on Friday on what isn’t the easiest card to call in truth. There is one bet I like which comes in the afternoon session as Mark Allen faces Paul Davison on the streamed tables which means we can follow all the action.

I expect Allen to come through this one with plenty in hand. Davison has only won one frame in his last three matches which isn’t exactly ideal and although they were a long time ago he has only won one frame in the two meetings he has had with Allen. Sometimes distant career records aren’t worth a lot but Allen is so much better now than he was then and Davison is nothing like the player. It should all mean Allen wins this no worse than 6-2 especially with Davison only having one break over 60 all season. He needs to score much better than that to get three frames from The Masters champ.

Tips

WON – Back M.Allen (-3.5 frames) to beat P.Davison for a 4/10 stake at 1.85 with Unibet
