2018 Royal London One Day Cup – Sunday 20th May Matches Betting Preview

We have a busy day in the Royal London One Day Cup on Sunday as a number of sides play their second match of the competition. With just eight matches per county in the league phase the need for wins are important throughout but even more so for those who lost their first games.

With a double header in the IPL on Sunday, unfortunately none of these matches are on TV but they’ll all have radio coverage and the social media feeds usually give extensive updates throughout the day to keep us up to date.

North Group

We have three matches in the North Group on Sunday. The defending champions Nottinghamshire take the competition to the outgrounds when they face Northamptonshire at Welbeck Colliery while two leading sides meet at Headingley when Yorkshire take on Warwickshire. The other match in the group on Sunday sees Lancashire facing Durham at Old Trafford with both sides eager to make up for opening game losses.

South Group

We also have three games in the South Group on Sunday as well with Somerset looking to build on their remarkable win over Surrey on Friday when they play host to Glamorgan. Two sides who won their opening match can steal a march on the rest with a win when Gloucestershire play host to Essex at Bristol while the other match sees Middlesex taking on Kent at Radlett with both teams looking for their first wins.

Betting

I’ll go with two bets over the course of Sunday in the hope of getting a little more luck than I’ve had so far in this competition. First of all I’ll go with Gloucestershire who had a great opening win over Glamorgan on Friday and who could well build on that against an Essex team who themselves had a good win first time out. Essex beat Middlesex but in truth I’m not convinced that is much of a win unlike Gloucestershire’s. Even so a win is a win and Essex should be respected but Gloucestershire are a really good one day outfit and they had plenty in hand when beating Glamorgan with Ian Cockbain and Jack Taylor not even getting to the crease. Gloucestershire look decent value at 13/10.

I’ll also take over 499.5 runs at Headingley where Yorkshire meet Warwickshire. Headingley is really improving as a one day ground and the scores last year reflected that where the first winning scores were 296/9, 335/5 (which got chased down), 349/7, 258/7 (45 overs) and 313/7. Clearly on what is a good wicket these days I’m expecting the runs to flow and I’m lost as to why this line is so low. If it is because Yorkshire skittled Durham on Friday there is a world of difference between that Durham side and this Warwickshire one. Both sides made 300+ in their opening game and I’m expecting both to make 250+ here. This line should get trounced really.
