2018 Specsavers County Championship – Friday 27th April Matches Betting Preview

The third week of the Specsavers County Championship season begins on Friday when eight more matches across the two divisions set off. We’ve seen plenty of surprise results already this season with conditions making things a bit of a lottery but with everyone having a game under their belts it will be interesting to see if things settle down.

Division One

The champions Essex made the trip to Southampton to take on Essex in a match which sees Kyle Abbott against Alastair Cook and Jamie Porter against Sam Northeast and Hashim Amla. Two sides with big histories meet at Old Trafford when Lancashire host Surrey while the former champions Yorkshire head down to Taunton to take on Somerset. The midlands duo meet in Worcester when the two promoted sides battle it out as Worcestershire host Nottinghamshire.

Division Two

Leicestershire welcome Derbyshire to Grace Road while Middlesex will look to get over their surprise defeat last week when they host Glamorgan. Northamptonshire welcome a battered Durham to Wantage Road with the other match taking place this week being between Sussex and Gloucestershire who have both begun the campaign well.

Betting

I’m not sure how many results we are going to get in this week given the appalling forecast up and down the country but I will take a chance on one side who impressed me last week and should be able to back that up.

That is Derbyshire. When you look at their bowling attack of Rampaul, Viljoen, Olivier and Palladino it is no surprise they were able to turn over Middlesex last week. In fairness Leicestershire welcome a decent one in Varun Aaron this week but I’m not sure the rest of their attack stands up. Derbyshire have a deep batting line up and in seaming conditions they could be tough to beat.
