Division One

All eyes will be on Headingley this week as the two teams either side of the relegation zone meet when Yorkshire host Lancashire in one of the biggest Roses clashes in some time. Whoever wins could very well send the other down. There is a bottom vs top clash at New Road when Worcestershire entertain the champions in waiting Surrey. Somerset will look to delay the coronation when they head to Hampshire while Nottinghamshire take on Essex in the other game.

Division Two

Warwickshire are in pole position to win promotion and be champions and they will look to enhance those claims when they take on Leicestershire at Edgbaston. Second placed Kent face a tricky test at Lord’s against Middlesex which could open the door for third placed Sussex who make the long trip to Chester-le-Street to face Durham. The other two matches sees Glamorgan hosting Gloucestershire and Derbyshire heading to Northamptonshire.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet this week which comes in Division Two where Northamptonshire are losing so many players they just have to be taken on. In the last couple of weeks they have seen Ben Duckett, Richard Gleeson and Rory Kleinveldt all leave and only youngsters are replacing them. Derbyshire are a club looking to get on the upturn so they can’t really afford to just play out time this season. They picked up a very good win against Glamorgan last week where their seam attack showed its class. That will be important ahead of this week so I’m happy to go with Derbyshire in this one.

Tips

WON – Back Derbyshire to beat Northamptonshire for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Coral
