2018 Vitality Blast – Nottinghamshire vs Durham Betting Preview

There is one match in the Vitality Blast on Tuesday evening which comes from Trent Bridge where the Nottinghamshire Outlaws host the Durham Jets in a match which gives both sides the opportunity to steal a march on those towards the head of the table.

Both sides have made acceptable starts to the tournament. Nottinghamshire have made a really good one with three wins from four while Durham have one less win from their opening four games but both can launch a quarter final charge from here. The ODI gets the TV treatment on Tuesday so we are relying on the live stream for our coverage.

Nottinghamshire Outlaws

We saw the defending champions on the television on the opening night of the competition and in truth they looked an average side but since then they have won three straight road games to build up confidence. They will now be looking to get their home campaign up and running as they strengthen their chances of defending the title.

The success of the three wins for Nottinghamshire has been with their batting but the strange thing is that their top order has not really fired in the tournament yet. Their middle order has been destructive though. A concern of mine for this Outlaws side is that their bowling looks like you can get after it which we saw on the opening night.

Durham Jets

Durham head into this match off the back of a fine win over Birmingham Bears on Sunday when they piled on the runs and defended it against a very good batting line up. Both of the defeats Durham have suffered in this tournament so far have come against Yorkshire but they have won their other two contests.

One issue for Durham could be that they have shipped 200 twice in their four matches which highlights a weakness in their bowling attack. Another problem could be that Sunday was the first time they have scored more than 160 and generally when the two facets are put together it is not a good combination.

Team News

Nottinghamshire look set to be unchanged with Chris Nash still on the sidelines. Jake Ball is away with England and misses out. Jake Libby is in the squad but is not expected to make his way back into the side.

Durham are expected to be unchanged from their good win over Birmingham last time out. Ben Stokes remains away with England and is unavailable until later in the week when he is being released to play.

Betting

I’m expecting Nottinghamshire to win this match but I’m not 100% certain about it and even if I was they are plenty short enough around the 8/15 mark so I’m going to go to the side markets to look for a bet on the match.

There is a player performance I like here which comes in the form of the one for Dan Christian. He has been in emphatic form in this competition. The Nottinghamshire captain had a poor first outing but since then he has delivered scores of 113*, 47 and 62 and in the last two matches he has produced bowling efforts of 2/32 and 3/34 so he is a huge player for the home side. He’s also a very good fielder who may well take catches and when we throw all that together I think he can cover a 46.5 line.

Tips

Back D.Christian’s Performance – Over 46.5pts for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
