2018 Vitality Blast – Sunday 12th August Matches Betting Preview

We enter the final week of the Vitality Blast group stage on Sunday and there are six matches in the competition as the countdown to judgement night really starts to begin. This is set up to be a big afternoon in the competition.

The Test match will be getting the TV treatment during the afternoon so we will be resigned to the live streams, radio commentaries and all the other ways of keeping up to date on these games.

North Group

We have two matches in the North Group on Sunday with the big game coming up at the Riverside as the leaders Durham take on third placed Lancashire. A Durham win will ensure they host a quarter final while a Lancashire win will guarantee them a spot in the last eight. Second placed Worcestershire can close in on hosting a quarter final if they can beat Nottinghamshire who need to win to keep their quarter final hopes alive.

South Group

The leaders of the South Group, Somerset, will secure a home quarter final of their own if they can beat Glamorgan at Taunton while second placed Gloucestershire will look to close in on the last eight themselves when they host a Surrey side who must win you feel to keep their quarter final chances realistic. Hampshire and Essex have stunk the place out so their meeting at the Ageas Bowl means nothing but Kent can enhance their quarter final hopes when they host a Middlesex team who have been poor throughout.

Betting

Unfortunately there is a massive band of rain touring the country on Sunday with the south in particular copping a heavy load of it so there isn’t too much that we can bet on with comfort. There might be play in the South but conditions will change throughout the morning which is not ideal. There is one bet I like though.

That comes in the form of Lancashire who I think will win at Durham. When these two met five days ago Lancashire had Durham on toast and then an amazing last couple of overs saw Lancashire snatch defeat from a certain victory. Should a similar situation occur here I don’t think the same thing will happen again. Durham have now made the quarter final and while they will want to be at home it would be a natural thing for them to subconsciously ease up a touch. Lancashire can’t afford to do that so I’m going to take them to gain immediate revenge for that horror defeat at Old Trafford with a win here.

Tips

WON – Back Lancashire to beat Durham for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Ladbrokes
