2018 Vitality Blast – Tuesday 7th August Matches Betting Preview

After a day off on Monday the Vitality Blast returns on Tuesday evening with two matches in the competition. We are entering the home straight in the group stage now with all those in the mix having a big couple of weeks ahead of them.

Three of the four sides in action on Tuesday are involved in the shake up so this is yet another big evening in the competition. One of the two matches is on TV while the other has the usual ways of being kept up to date with. We’ll begin the preview with the TV clash.

Lancashire Lightning vs Durham Jets

The TV cameras head to Old Trafford for the KSL and Vitality Blast double header and the Blast match is a huge one for fourth placed Lancashire and second placed Durham in a very tight North Group.

Worcestershire look to have flown the nest at the top but six other sides are fighting it out for the other three spots in the quarter final and every defeat from here on in could be pivotal so I’m expecting a big battle here. Lancashire need a win having lost their last two and seen one match washed out. Durham lost last time out but it was too Worcestershire who look a cut above right now. The only other side to have beaten Durham are Yorkshire.

I think Durham are overpriced here. It would be much more helpful if they still had Imran Tahir but not everything in life is perfect but even then Lancashire will be without three huge players for them in Liam Livingstone, Jos Buttler and Keaton Jennings. Durham are likely to get a trial by spin but I don’t think that will worry them. Lancashire look a couple of batsmen light to me. Both have good attacks so that could be the difference.

Jordan Clark often gets thrown up the order for Lancashire and he could be worth a tipple as their top batsman at 10/1. We’ve seen him hit a big ball in the past and without the three big guns in this Lancashire batting line up there is a massive hole for someone to score some runs in the middle order. Durham have an attack to get the openers cheaply and if they do it could well be Clark who benefits with the top score.

Glamorgan vs Essex Eagles

The one match in the South Group on Tuesday night is a huge one for the Welsh side Glamorgan. They will move into the quarter final spots if they can beat an Essex Eagles side who have no chance of qualifying regardless of what they do here.

Glamorgan have been playing some excellent cricket in recent times while Essex have got this competition all wrong. They have been a batsman light throughout and often more than that. They have been hit and miss with the ball too so they are not in a good way. Glamorgan have won their last three matches and have beaten a couple of good sides in that time and I’m expecting them to win here too.
