2019-20 Bundesliga – Saturday 13th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

As the other major leagues across Europe begin or get ready for their return, the Bundesliga is up to full speed and continues with another six fixtures on Saturday, on a day where we might get the first decisive moves made.

The weekend began in fine style for RB Leipzig when they cruised to a win over Hoffenheim on Friday night to put the pressure on the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach on a Saturday where the top two are both in action.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (14.30 UK unless stated)

Dusseldorf vs Borussia Dortmund

FC Koln vs Union Berlin

Hertha Berlin vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Paderborn vs Werder Bremen

Wolfsburg vs Freiburg

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach (17.30)

Preview

The match that jumps off the card on Saturday is the last one to take place as the leaders Bayern Munich host Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena. Should Borussia Dortmund lost at Dusseldorf earlier in the afternoon, Bayern can seal the title here with a win. It could be a big day at the foot of the table too as the bottom two collide when Paderborn host Werder Bremen. Paderborn know that a defeat combined with a win for Dusseldorf in that clash with Dortmund will see them relegated so the hosts cannot afford to lose there.

The other three matches don’t really have too much on them. Wolfsburg are the only ones playing for anything really. They host Freiburg and will take a massive step towards European football next season if they win after Hoffenheim lost on Friday night. Hertha Berlin will look to continue their good form when they host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Olympiastadion while the other match sees the other Berlin team, Union Berlin, going in search of the few points they need to guarantee safety when they travel to take on FC Koln.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets this week. I was on Union Berlin to beat Schalke last weekend and although I got my money back on them the fact remains that they were unable to beat a drab Schalke outfit and that doesn’t bode well here. Union have been poor on their travels throughout the campaign and heading to a FC Koln side who have been more competitive and better than their results have suggested since the restart probably isn’t a good fixture for the Bundesliga debutants. Koln might not have won since lockdown but they are scoring goals and have been unlucky with a few late goals going against them. Union don’t score enough for my liking. It is six matches since they scored more than once. I expect Koln to take advantage of that here.

I’m taking on one Berlin side but I’m backing the other as I like Hertha Berlin to feast on this wide open Eintracht Frankfurt defence and continue their good form since lockdown. I was going to take the over here but the absence of Matheus Cunha for the hosts puts me off a little as I wonder if they’ll take a slightly more pragmatic look at this match. I still wouldn’t be surprised if the over does land because this Frankfurt defence must give their coaching staff kittens. It has shipped goals all over the place and I’m not convinced they are going to get the joy they need at the other end to make up for it. Only Dortmund have beaten Hertha since the break and they only did it by a solitary goal. The hosts can get back to winning ways here.
