The Bundesliga continues with five matches on Saturday afternoon and neutrals watching on will be hoping those games are a lot more exciting than the one which kicked off the latest set of fixtures on Friday night.
That one promised much only to end up disappointing but on a day where the champions elect are on show and a couple of other entertaining teams, we should get a lot more out of Saturday in terms of entertainment.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (14.30 UK unless stated)
Hertha Berlin vs Augsburg
Mainz vs Hoffenheim
Schalke vs Werder Bremen
Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern Munich vs Dusseldorf (17.30)

Preview
We have to wait until the final match of the afternoon to see Bayern Munich continue their march towards yet another title. They host Dusseldorf in a match that is going to have implications at both ends of the table. Another match that could impact both ends of the table comes from the Veltins Arena where a Schalke side who look in a right slump, play host to Werder Bremen who are beginning to offer signs of life after a pretty terrible season thus far.
The other three matches see an attractive Hertha Berlin side looking to buck the current trend of home sides being unable to win when they play host to Augsburg while two other sides who have entertained since the restart meet when Wolfsburg go up against Eintracht Frankfurt. The other match sees Mainz looking to ease their nerves where relegation are concerned when they play a Hoffenheim team who might not have given up on reaching European competition next term yet.
Betting
I’ll go with two bets over the course of the afternoon. I was tempted by Werder Bremen but I just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger despite Schalke looking a bit of a mess at the minute. I will however pull it on Hertha Berlin, for whom there is a case that they have played the best stuff since the return from lockdown. Augsburg have picked up a win to be fair to them but that was over the aforementioned Schalke and it is hard to believe that win carries too much weight right now. Hertha look a different proposition under their new boss and if it wasn’t for the worrying trend of home sides struggling I’ve got to think they would be a lot shorter than the close to even money they are trading at when we right this preview. Despite the lack of home wins I can’t ignore that price on Hertha Berlin.
The other bet I like over the course of the afternoon is for over 2.5 goals in the match between Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. The latter are in freefall at the minute and they are not helping themselves by conceding goals at a crazy lick. In the three matches they have played since the return to action, they have shipped at least three goals in each and 11 in total. Wolfsburg have just put four past Bayer Leverkusen and with the exception of their match against Dortmund, they have looked pretty good in the second part of this season. The way Frankfurt are conceding there is a chance Wolfsburg would cover this line themselves but to be fair to the cup specialists they scored twice against Bayern last weekend and three times against Freiburg in midweek so there are goals in them Over 2.5 should land here even at 8/11.
