2019-20 Premier League – Chelsea vs Norwich Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another set of matches in the Premier League get underway on Tuesday evening and this compelling and close race for the Champions League places gets the spotlight as Chelsea host already relegated Norwich City at Stamford Bridge.

We now know that only the top four gets into the Champions League next term and Chelsea begin the night in third place so they can do their chances the world of good if they can find a win to put the chasers under pressure later in the week.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live on Sky in the UK. It can be seen on Sky Main Event, Sky Premier League, Sky One and Pick with the build up beginning at 8pm and the match itself kicking off at 8.15pm.

Chelsea

The Blues are probably going to be pleased to be back at Stamford Bridge because their last three defence performances away from home have been pathetic. At home since the restart they have played two matches and come away with wins over Manchester City and Watford, the latter being very emphatic, and it is that which they will be looking to repeat in this game. Chelsea look more comfortable at home so they should be confident here.

There are still doubts over their defence. Although they kept a clean sheet against Watford, their opponents had a couple of golden chances late on in the game. The one area where there are no issues for Chelsea is in attacking areas. They have a number of options and look confident whenever they go forward. The attacking players they have signed for next season appears to have created real competition for places and they are reaping the rewards for that.

Norwich City

It has been a tough season for Norwich and as such they have been relegated with three matches left. You would like to say they went down with a fight but in truth they have done anything but that. Since restart they have been terrible, losing all six matches that they have played, scoring just the one goal in that time and shipping 15. That was never going to be a good combination but you couldn’t even argue they’ve been unlucky in that time either. They haven’t, they’ve been awful.

Their fans and neutrals will hope that they play with a bit of freedom now that there is absolutely no pressure on them, and offer up some of the form that we saw from them last season when they entertained throughout in winning the Championship. If they can do that they could be a handful but you would have to see evidence of it before you could expect it to come. Even carrying a goal threat would be a welcome change on what we’ve seen recently.

Team News

Frank Lampard will be without N’Golo Kante but he could have Andreas Christiansen available despite the centre-back coming off at half-time in the shocking defeat to Sheffield United last week. He’ll have to choose between Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud up front but the former demolished Norwich in the reverse meeting at Carrow Road.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke has reported no new injury concerns which will be a boost for him. Another boost will be the availability of Todd Cantwell but he remains without central defenders Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann.

Betting

I’ll go with over 3.5 goals in this match. I think that covers both possibilities from what we could get from Norwich. They will either free up and show us why they were in the Premier League in the first place, or they will feel sorry for themselves and offer little to nothing, much like we have seen from them in recent weeks. Whichever one we get from the visitors, I believe we will see enough goals to cover this line as a result.

I expect Chelsea to be pretty rampant here and if Norwich don’t fancy the job this could soon get quite nasty for the newly relegated side but I can’t have any faith at all in this Chelsea team keeping a clean sheet, even against relatively goal shy opposition. When these two met at Carrow Road earlier in the season there were five goals. I reckon we’ll see at least one less than that here if not a similar amount or even more.
