2019-20 Premier League – Saturday 11th January Matches Tips and Betting Preview

There are seven more matches in the Premier League on Saturday as the division follows on from a controversial start to the weekend on Friday night. As ever we have three kick off times and two live games to enjoy over the course of the day.

We have the runaway leaders Liverpool in action in a repeat of the Champions League final from last season while the likes of Chelsea and Leicester are also on show. Events at the bottom of the table will be in the spotlight too.

Early Kick Off

We begin with a London derby at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace take on Arsenal in a big match for both sides. These two teams occupy the last two places in the top half of the table going into the weekend but there are just a few danger signs that injuries are beginning to hamper Palace’s form. Arsenal have the chance to further prove their credentials under Mikel Arteta in a competitive environment so both have something to prove here.

3pm Matches

Chelsea will look to strengthen their claims for a top four finish in one of the matches in this kick off slot when they host a Burnley side whose form has not been up to scratch recently amid a few injuries kicking in and hurting them. Everton will look to bounce back from their disappointing display in the Merseyside Derby last week when they play host to a Brighton and Hove Albion side who shouldn’t be underestimated.

Southampton will be making the trip to the King Power Stadium looking to make up for their obliteration by Leicester City in the reverse meeting between the two this season while Manchester United will hope to get over their cup defeat in midweek when they welcome Norwich City to Old Trafford. The other match sees Wolverhampton Wanderers taking on Newcastle United in a game the home side are warm order in.

Late Game

As is so often the case, we save the best for last on Saturday as Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur side are the latest team to look to end the unbeaten start to the Premier League season of Liverpool. There might be a little bit more at stake for Tottenham too as they go about getting some revenge for defeat in the Champions League last season. Given that Liverpool are as far clear at the top as they are, this is probably a bigger match for the home side and their quest to push towards the top four once again.

Betting

I like a couple of bets for Saturday and they get going at Old Trafford where I’ll try a speculative anytime scorer punt on the new Norwich sensation Adam Idah. Daniel Farke has confirmed that Teemu Pukki is out injured for this match so the teenager could well be handed his first Premier League start and he should be full of confidence after bagging a hat-trick in the FA Cup at Preston last weekend. United have shown deficiencies defensively this season and if there is one thing we know about Norwich it is that they’ll take the game to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his men. You can get 4/1 on Idah finding the back of the net at any time and that looks too big for a man who could start up front.

I also like the look of Wolverhampton Wanderers but given that they are a little short as a single, I’ll top up the odds by taking them to beat Newcastle United but there to be under 3.5 goals scored. Newcastle have enough injuries that you’ve got to think Wolves are good things in the match but neither team are likely to tear the other and their deep back lines apart. Wolves should be able to exert enough pressure on Newcastle to break them down at some point but I don’t see them leaving themselves open enough to be caught on the counter. Wolves should win and there should be little danger of 3.5 goals.
