Preview

The race for the Champions League forms much of the focus across the course of Saturday afternoon along with the battle to avoid the drop. All five matches have something on them in that regard. It all kicks off at Carrow Road where bottom of the pile Norwich City host Brighton and Hove Albion with both wanting the points to avoid the drop. The 3pm matches are mostly about the top four battle. Leicester City and Crystal Palace haven’t really come out of lockdown yet but the former needs to here else their top four hopes could be hanging by a thread. The clash at Old Trafford sees Manchester United taking on Bournemouth in possibly the biggest match of the day and one which neither can afford to lose.

The race for the European places take centre stage in the evening and the best match of the five on Saturday is the first of the two later kick offs when Wolverhampton Wanderers look to continue their fine return to action when they take on an Arsenal team who are slowly getting it together after a tough initial return. The final match of the night sees Chelsea looking to relaunch their quest for the Champions League next season when they host a Watford side who could be in the bottom three by the time they kick off if they are not careful.

Betting

I like two bets over the course of the day on Saturday. The first of them comes the King Power Stadium where Leicester City are having a few issues and they might not be ironed out when they host Crystal Palace. Leicester are yet to win since lockdown and are struggling to find the net with just two goals in four matches if you include the FA Cup tie. They might not find it any easier against a Palace side who don’t ship goals. Palace don’t score many either though. Only Norwich City have fewer goals than them this term so I don’t expect this to be a high scoring match. You can get 8/11 on under 2.5 goals here and that looks a safe enough bet to me here.

We saw on Wednesday night that this Chelsea defence is an abomination and a mistake waiting to happen and that makes me think that both teams to score in the late kick off between them and Watford is a good bet. Chelsea have looked very good in attack right through the restart but the only clean sheet they have is in that FA Cup game against a shot shy Leicester side. Watford can’t sit back and see what happens in this match. They have to have a bit of a go because Chelsea will destroy them if they invite the Blues onto them. The other reason is the Hornets are desperate for the points. I don’t think this Watford side are very good but they’ll be even worse than I thought if they don’t contribute to both teams scoring here.
