Preview

The action begins with the focus on the race for the Champions League and European places which is really getting interesting after the results on Saturday. Wolverhampton Wanderers are right in the mix and they will be looking to put the pressure on those around them when they entertain Everton in the early kick off. We then switch from the top to the bottom of the table where Aston Villa are closing in on the last chance saloon after watching West Ham and Watford win on Saturday. Villa host Crystal Palace at Villa Park knowing they really have to win else their survival hopes will be looking incredibly slim.

The big match of the day is the third one as the two North London rivals meet in the derby when Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal collide in a huge clash for both teams. Both are fighting hard to be involved in Europe at all next season let alone in the Champions League and those hopes will be all but over for whoever loses here. The final match of the day will affect both ends of the table when Bournemouth host Leicester City. Bournemouth can be looking at Championship football if they lose here while Leicester open the door to the chasing pack in the race to that last Champions League spot if they come away with anything other than three points.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the day on Sunday. We have to wait until the third match for the first of them, which comes in the form of Arsenal to beat Tottenham in the big match. Tottenham have flattered to deceive so much since the restart. They were second best against Manchester United, got lucky against West Ham then they were terrible at Sheffield United. They were fortunate Everton were pathetic last week and then Spurs couldn’t even beat Bournemouth on Thursday evening. They look to be going nowhere under Jose Mourinho. Contrast that with Arsenal who are clearly starting to go places under Mikel Arteta and their only dropped points in their last four matches came with 10 men against Leicester last week. There is no doubt Arsenal are playing the better football right now but at the same time their defence continues to scare me. I can’t avoid backing the Gunners but I’ll take the draw cover of the draw no bet market.

The second bet comes in the final match of the day where I’m expecting goals between Bournemouth and Leicester City. This is a match that both teams need to win so that in turn should lead to a lot of potential goal activity. Bournemouth kept a clean sheet against Tottenham but Spurs are terrible at the minute. Prior to that match Bournemouth looked like conceding every time they were attacked and with Leicester suddenly finding their attacking mojo this could be a tough night for Bournemouth. The Cherries have no option but to go after this match. If they don’t win here they can kiss goodbye to Premier League football with them being six points adrift of safety and Manchester City still to play. That should lead to an entertaining game where over 2.5 goals can land.
