2019-20 Premier League – Sunday 2nd February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The latest round of matches in the Premier League conclude on Sunday afternoon, and with the winter break looming large for some teams this could be a big day for the four teams involved, as they look for another three points towards their total.

Two of the top four from last season form the second of the two matches, but there is no less intrigue in the opening match of what should be a tasty afternoon where all results appear to be possible.

Burnley vs Arsenal (14.00)

Two sides who sit just six points above the relegation zone meet at Turf Moor looking to pull away from the danger area further in the opening match of the afternoon when Burnley take on Arsenal in a key game for both sides.

I think we know what to expect here in terms of a clash of styles. Arsenal will look to control and dominate the football while Burnley will be competitive, physical and direct, and it will be interesting to see whose style comes out on top. Usually you would think it would be Arsenal’s but for all the improvement they’ve made under Mikel Arteta they’ve won just one of their last eight league matches overall and are a young side. Burnley have won their last two matches and look to have sorted themselves out and will fancy the job here. I’m tempted to take the home side to avoid defeat here but I’m still a respecter of the Arsenal quality so I’ll sit this one out.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City (16.30)

The big match of the day is the second one of the afternoon as Jose Mourinho goes up against Pep Guardiola in the latest battle of their duel when Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester City in what still feels a big encounter.

The title has long gone for Manchester City but they will want to build some form and confidence with the Champions League returning later this month, while Tottenham will be out to do likewise, although with their top four hopes in danger, the need for the points here is probably a little higher for them. Having won just one of their last five in the league, a real struggle against Norwich, Spurs’ form looks right out at the minute, with them struggling to cope without Harry Kane.

I expect City to win this match. They are just too good against sides who don’t carry as much of a goal threat as they should do, and who allow them to dominate the ball. That said they are plenty short enough to back on the road after a tough game in midweek so rather than back them to win I’ll go for some extra value and take them to win with more than 2.5 goals in the match, a line they could easily cover themselves, but Spurs may well have a goal in them.
