Preview

All eyes will be on Old Trafford where Jose Mourinho returns as manager for the first time since he was sacked by Manchester United, when he takes his Tottenham Hotspur team to the Theatre of Dreams for a key battle for both teams. The other huge match on the evening comes in the later kick off from Anfield where Liverpool play host to Everton in the latest Merseyside derby, one in which many are beginning to fear but for the blue half of the matchup.

Elsewhere, Chelsea will be looking to make up for their defeat at the hands of West Ham at the weekend when they welcome Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge while Leicester City will look to keep up the heat on leaders Liverpool when they host the bottom club Watford. There is a big clash at the bottom of the table down at St Mary’s where Southampton take on Norwich City while the other match has Wolverhampton Wanderers hosting West Ham United.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the night and they begin at Old Trafford where I’m expecting to see more than 2.5 goals. I understand the trepidation that Jose Mourinho often sets his teams up negatively in big matches but even if he does I don’t trust this Tottenham defence to keep a clean sheet and the same can be said about Manchester United as well. I think the best chance for either team to win this match is to go on the attack and that is how I’m expecting it to play out. Given that, I think there is enough quality on show to get more than 2.5 goals.

The other bet I like is for Leicester City to cover a 1.25 Asian handicap against Watford. Leicester are absolutely flying right now and it is hard to see where Watford go from here. They have already looked for the new manager bounce and got worse and now they are managerless again and seemingly going nowhere. Going to Leicester these days is never easy even if you go there in decent touch, let alone when you are struggling. The Foxes are full of confidence, Brendan Rodgers has the options to change things if he wants to freshen his side up and I expect a comfortable home win as a result.
