2019-20 Sky Bet Championship – Fulham vs QPR Tips and Betting Preview

The Championship comes out of the international break on Friday night with a London derby which should be an entertaining game of football as Fulham host QPR in a battle of two sides whose mantra is to attack, score goals and not worry about the consequences.

Both these sides go into the match just outside the play-off places, which for the visitors is no mean effort but for the Cottagers it has to be seen as a failure if they remain outside the top six for any extended period to come.

Fulham

You would have expected Craven Cottage to be something of a fortress this season but Fulham have already dropped 10pts there and if they are going to guarantee an immediate return to the Premier League they need to sort their home form out. As you would expect, the Cottagers have no issues finding the back of the net but flat performances from nowhere and a few too many goals against have hampered their progress.

Fulham went into the international break with a narrow win at Birmingham City but that was their only win in their last three, so they really need to get their act together, especially at home. It could be that the renovation work going on at Craven Cottage is hindering them in terms of atmosphere and things so eventually you would expect them to work it out but whether they can be trusted just yet remains to be seen.

QPR

If results were given out on entertainment then QPR could possibly be top of the league as their matches are often littered with goals. In the 16 matches they have played this season there have been an incredible 56 goals which is quite some return. Unfortunately for the Rs, in recent times at least, more have gone in the wrong end than the right one, but I daresay if you offered them a spot in the top 10 at this stage of the campaign they would have taken it.

That said, they make the short trip to Craven Cottage without a win in their last four matches, so the international break might well have come at the right time for them. They will have had time to regroup and work out what is needed going forward. One area where they don’t have an issue is winning on the road. They have won four out of seven away games this term which is no mean effort in this division.

Team News

Fulham will be without their leading scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic who is suspended for this match Tom Cairney, Joe Bryan and Harry Arter all missed the win at Birmingham last time out but could feature here.

QPR are missing a key player due to injury as well with America international Geoff Cameron banned for them. Yohan Barbet will continue to miss out with a muscle injury while late decisions will be made over one or two who returned late from international duty.

Betting

When we look at this match the first question we have to ask ourselves is whether or not we trust either of these sides, especially defensively. The answer as far as I’m concerned is no. I probably would have taken Fulham had Mitrovic been available but the fact he isn’t makes the home side look a little on the short side so I’ll look elsewhere for my bet on the contest.

That naturally comes in the form of the goals where even without Mitrovic I’m happy to get on a 2.75 goal line. I mentioned above that QPR matches are averaging 3.5 goals per game this season while Fulham matches at home are averaging more than three goals as well. Both teams have a natural tendency to attack and a vulnerability to them defensively. Equally as importantly they both have goals in them so I’m happy to be on over 2.75 goals here.
