Big Matches

The televised offering on Saturday comes from The Valley for the second week in succession as Charlton Athletic look to arrest their recent slump when they play host to Sheffield Wednesday. Leeds United have the chance to go to the top of the Championship table when they welcome Middlesbrough to Elland Road in a match which has to be described as pretty big for both teams with the visitors looking for the points to pull clear of the drop zone.

Best of the Rest

Speaking of sides looking to get away from danger at the bottom, Luton Town make the journey to Griffin Park to take on Brentford while Stoke City welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Bet365 Stadium. The big match at the bottom though sees Wigan Athletic hosting an improving Reading. Barnsley, who are bottom of the lot, host Hull City who are on the up at the minute. Nottingham Forest meet Cardiff City while Bristol City have the chance to get back into the top six when they welcome Huddersfield Town to Ashton Gate. There is also a Gary Rowett derby as he takes his current side Millwall to his former club Birmingham City.

Betting

There is just the one for me on Saturday afternoon. One or two others did interest me but I’ve already had a winner this weekend and I’m conscious that there is another match to come on Monday night so I’m not going to go too mad, especially as it has been a crazily busy week for all the sides in the Championship so if there are going to be surprise results then it could be here.

The bet I like is Hull City, who have hit a decent groove at the minute. In their last three outings they have been to Fulham and Nottingham Forest and also won well at Luton before that. They go into this game after absolutely thrashing Preston North End in midweek and Jarrod Bowen has really come to life in recent times. Barnsley are in trouble and in truth they don’t look like coming out of it at the minute. Admittedly they have injuries and a new manager changing things around and stuff but there must be concern behind the scenes it must be said. Barnsley lost to Middlesbrough in midweek which isn’t a great confidence boost and conditions for that was horrendous so they might have some heavy legs here. Hull manager Grant McCann said his side delivered their best performance of the campaign on Wednesday night and if they repeat that here they should have enough.
