Big Matches

The first of the two televised matches will impact both ends of the table as Wigan look to build on their fine win over Leeds United last weekend when they host a Preston North End side who will want three points to get their playoff push back on track after a quiet January. The second live game comes from the City Ground where the automatic promotion places are in the spotlight as Nottingham Forest play host to Leeds United in a huge match for both clubs and one the Whites will be desperate not to lose.

Best of the Rest

Brentford will be looking to pile the pressure on the two sides involved in the late game when they host Middlesbrough while Fulham will be looking to do likewise when they make the trip to Blackburn Rovers. At the bottom end of the table there is a huge game at the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke City host Charlton Athletic with three valuable points on the line. Luton Town will look to win successive home games when they welcome Cardiff City to Kenilworth Road while in an earlier kick off Barnsley take on Sheffield Wednesday.

Betting

I’m still a little wary of getting too involved in this division while the squads settle down a little bit but there is no hiding the fact that we should expect goals when Huddersfield Town meet QPR at the John Smith’s Stadium. It is fair to say that neither of these teams know what a clean sheet looks like at the minute with both recording just one of them in their last nine outings in the Championship. That in itself suggests we’ll see goals here.

QPR matches have been high scoring for the majority of the season and they have enough quality in attacking areas even if it is only on the counter to find the net here. Huddersfield matches have suddenly sprung into life for goals and that is probably no surprise when you consider the work that has been done on their squad in January. This looks like being a pretty open contest with both sides chasing the three points so the even money on over 2.5 goals looks good to me.
