2019-20 Sky Bet Championship – Sunday 12th July Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

This wonderful Championship season is into the last couple of weeks now and it continues on Sunday afternoon when the remaining two fixtures in the latest round of games take place, with plenty on both of them.

One of the two matches are live on TV for those of us who are in the UK to enjoy while we all know the many ways of keeping up to date in the other so if you like your Championship football there is no reason not to stay involved here. We’ll kick the preview off with the TV game.

Stoke City vs Birmingham City (13.30 – Sky Football)

Two sides who have really struggled since the restart meet in front of the Sky cameras on Sunday when Stoke City, now deep in the relegation battle, host a Birmingham City side who will know if their slump goes on much longer they will get reeled in as well.

With that in mind, this is a huge match for both teams and once neither can really afford to lose. We saw a similar game in profile to this one on Friday night when Huddersfield Town hosted Luton Town and we saw a nervy and edgy affair there where the home side were pretty ordinary it has to be said. Birmingham have reacted to their terrible form by relieving Pep Clotet of his duties early which had to be done and they will be hoping for the new manager bounce that so often comes with such a move. Stoke continue to be overrated by bookmakers but I can’t be backing Birmingham so I’ll leave this one alone.

Swansea City vs Leeds United (13.30)

Two sides who have their eyes on promotion this season feature in the match away from the cameras on Sunday when Swansea City, arguably favourites to make the play-offs now given the results so far this weekend, host a Leeds United side who can move to within four points of a return to the Premier League with a win here.

Leeds might think they have a point to prove here as it was in Wales where they have suffered their only defeat since lockdown, when they were beaten at Cardiff City. Swansea haven’t displayed the best home form since lockdown so they might also feel there is something in this match other than the three points. The Welsh side were able to snatch the win at Elland Road earlier in the campaign and that should buoy their confidence heading into this one.

I think the fact that both teams are after the points here could lead to us getting treated to a few goals. Whoever goes behind are going to have to task a few risks to get back into it and with losing not an option, this one could quickly ignite into something special. The goal line for this one is 2.5 and if both teams score, which has to have every chance, we only need a winner from somewhere. I like the over here.
