2019-20 Sky Bet Championship – Tuesday 10th December Matches Tips and Betting Preview

We have yet another midweek round of action in the Championship as we head towards the halfway stage of the season, and it all begins with half the fixtures on a Tuesday night which could be big at both ends of the table.

All six matches are live on Sky in the UK either on the main channel or behind the red button so any bets that we have we’ll be able to keep up with throughout the piece which is always an attraction for midweek betting.

Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated)

Bristol City v Millwall

Charlton Athletic v Huddersfield Town

Leeds United v Hull City

Nottingham Forest v Middlesbrough

Preston North End v Fulham

Stoke City v Luton Town (8pm)

Preview

The leaders West Bromwich Albion don’t feature until Wednesday night so the four sides immediately behind them in the table have the chance to close the gap on them or even overtake them in one case. The match on the main sky channel is probably the pick of them as Preston North End host Fulham who will both be wanting to bounce back from disappointing results last time out. Leeds United are the side who can go above West Brom if they beat Hull City at Elland Road.

There is a huge clash at the bottom of the table when second from bottom Stoke City host fifth from bottom Luton Town where there will no love lost from the visitors for sure. Huddersfield Town are one of the two sides in between that pair in the standings and they will travel to the capital to face Charlton Athletic who are slowly getting sucked into the relegation battle. Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest meet Middlesbrough and Bristol City take on Millwall.

Betting

Midweek cards in this division are always tricky little buggers to bet on as you often find the home sides are shorter than they should be and if there is one thing I’ve learned about the first four months betting in this league it is that short shots should be taken with caution. When weighing all that up I’m going with one bet on Tuesday night and I’m sticking with what I know.

The bet is over 2.5 goals in the match between Stoke City and Luton Town. Both these sides will see this as a match that they can win and in terms of the home side one they need to win and that always makes for a more open and honest game. These are two of the worst teams in the league when it comes to defending with Luton having shipped 41 goals in their 20 matches and Stoke 35. Both know where the net is though. Luton games this season average 3.4 goals per game while Stoke’s average 2.8. Only one of the last 10 league games between these two have had less than three goals in it. The over looks a safe play here.
