2019-20 Sky Bet Championship – Tuesday 28th January Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Championship has eight matches taking place in it on Tuesday evening as the competition makes up for a quiet weekend with a number of sides on FA Cup duty. Issues at both ends of the table are tightening up which makes these games pretty important.

It is an evening where the top two are both in action as are a number of sides at the bottom of the table. Two of the games can be found behind the red button on Sky while the others will be shown for a fee on the club websites.

Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated)

Blackburn Rovers v Queens Park Rangers

Brentford v Nottingham Forest

Cardiff City v West Bromwich Albion

Hull City v Huddersfield Town

Leeds United v Millwall

Luton Town v Derby County

Wigan Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday

Reading v Bristol City (8pm)

Big Matches

The two matches that can be found behind the red button are the ones involving the top two in the table. West Bromwich Albion will be looking to build on their win at West Ham in the FA Cup at the weekend and maintain their advantage at the top of the table when they make the trip to Wales to take on Cardiff City. Leeds United will be hoping the Baggies slip up in which case they can go top of the table should they overcome rivals Millwall at Elland Road. Brentford and Nottingham Forest have the chance to close in on the top two should either of them slip up when they meet at Griffin Park.

Best of the Rest

Five other matches take place up and down the country with Blackburn Rovers playing host to QPR while two Yorkshire sides meet at the KCOM Stadium when Hull City take on Huddersfield Town. Bottom of the pile Luton Town go in search of a much needed three points when they host Wayne Rooney and his Derby County side while Wigan Athletic welcome Sheffield Wednesday. The other game is the slightly later kick off which sees Reading hosting a Bristol City team who could move back into the top six with a win.

Betting

I’ll go with a pair of bets for this card with the first of them coming up at Ewood Park where Blackburn Rovers go into their match against QPR in excellent spirits after absolutely battering Sheffield Wednesday last time out. If you wanted a direct form guide that same team won at QPR on Friday night although I’m all too aware that football doesn’t work like that. Blackburn never played at the weekend so they’ve had a good few days to nurse any bumps and bruises and further work out plans without Bradley Dack. QPR are a very attacking side but there isn’t much to them defensively and I’m not convinced that they will get much joy out of Blackburn who don’t concede too many at home. Rovers have got the draws at Ewood at the minute having finished level in their last three games there but against a side who went flat out on Friday night this is one they can win.

Luton Town are now in the situation where draws are of no use to them, especially at home at any rate, so I expect them to give it a real good go against a Derby County side who aren’t all that special, but do have one very special player in their ranks in Wayne Rooney. Although they are no great shakes, you don’t bring someone like Rooney into your club to mess about in the bottom half of the table so the Rams need to keep on winning themselves so we should be seeing both teams having a bit of a go at Kenilworth Road which should result in plenty of goals. Over 2.5 goals looks a natural outcome in that one.

Tips

WON – Back Blackburn Rovers to beat QPR for a 4/10 stake at 2.25 with Betfred

WON – Back Luton Town vs Derby County – Over 2.5 goals for a 4/10 stake at 1.73 with Betway
