Preview

The televised action is actually the second match of the night on Wednesday when West Bromwich Albion will look to restore their five point lead over third placed Brentford and move back to the top of the table when they host a Derby County side who will move level with Cardiff City in the race for that final play-off spot should they come out on top at The Hawthorns. Swansea City have not given up on the top six themselves and they could take a step closer to that position if they can find a win away to Birmingham City.

At the bottom end of the table, the two sides either side of the relegation line are in action in huge matches for both teams. Middlesbrough currently sit in the bottom three and they head to Millwall in the early kick off while Hull City, just above the line, head south to face a Bristol City team who begin life without Lee Johnson. Wigan Athletic’s troubles have been well documented but they have potentially catapulted them right back into the relegation picture. They host QPR in a game the Latics could do with winning. The other match sees Sheffield Wednesday hosting Preston North End.

Betting

Tuesday wasn’t particularly good to me so I’m going to look to get back to winning ways with just the one bet on Wednesday. That comes at St Andrews where Birmingham City host Swansea City and I can’t believe the visitors are available on a level ball line. Birmingham look like they have packed in for the season. I’m not massively surprised by that. I thought it was weird when they announced that Pep Clotet would be leaving at the end of the season when they did. I just didn’t see the upside to it and their results since lockdown suggest I wasn’t wrong to be concerned.

They have picked up two points from four matches and failed to score in three of them. Worse still, they shipped three goals to struggling Hull City and Huddersfield Town, both of whom were finding goals hard to come by until they ran into the Blues. Swansea are nothing of the sort. They didn’t show up in a home match against Luton recently, but aside from that they have picked up a couple of wins and a draw. Their attack is in decent form and in the main their defence is looking pretty solid. I fancy Swansea to win this match but given the rushed nature of everything I would rather have the security of the draw cover. It is the visitors for me though.
