The hectic beginning to the League 1 season continues on Tuesday night when 10 of the 12 scheduled fixtures take place up and down the country and the early league table begins to take shape with this the fourth round of games.
There is no televised action but those who bet on any of these matches can watch them online if they pay £10 on the various club websites so there is a way of keeping up with everything that is going on.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows:
Accrington Stanley v Shrewsbury Town
Bristol Rovers v Tranmere Rovers
Fleetwood Town v Wycombe Wanderers
Gillingham v Blackpool
Ipswich Town v AFC Wimbledon
Milton Keynes Dons v Lincoln City
Oxford United v Burton Albion
Portsmouth v Coventry City
Rochdale v Sunderland
Southend United v Peterborough United
Big Matches
There are two sides with 100% records in this division after three matches and both of them are on the road this midweek. The leaders Lincoln City make the trip to their fellow promoted side MK Dons looking to not only maintain their perfect start to the season but continue to not concede a goal all term. Blackpool are the other side with three wins from three and they make the lengthy trip to Kent to take on a Gillingham side looking for their first win under Steve Evans.
Best of the Rest
Sunderland and Portsmouth were the two favourites to win the league this season and they both have tricky encounters here. Portsmouth host a Coventry City side who caused the big times plenty of problems on the road last term while Sunderland make the trip to Spotland to take on undefeated Rochdale. Oxford made some eye catching signings earlier in the week and they will hope to put them to good use when they host Burton Albion. Wycombe Wanderers sit third in the table and they head to Fleetwood Town who are two places below them at kick off.
Betting
Lincoln City did the double over MK Dons last season and I see no reason why they won’t beat them again on Tuesday night. There is no doubt that the Imps have improved over the close season with the likes of Jorge Grant and Jack Payne a clear sign that they are going to play football as well as bang it long, which should bode well for them in League One where you need to do both at various times of the season.
There is a feeling that MK Dons will be a tough side to watch this season, not scoring many goals but not conceding many either although that theory didn’t stand up to fruition when they lost 3-2 at Wycombe at the weekend. MK have a few injuries to be contending with here while Lincoln’s wave of confidence and momentum is showing no signs of slowing down. We won’t be getting the Imps on a level ball handicap for very much longer this term so I’m going to take advantage of that fact we’re getting it here.
