2019 Africa Cup of Nations – Saturday 29th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The second round of matches in the Africa Cup of Nations comes to an end on Saturday as three more games take place out in Egypt and at the end of it the picture of who will progress and who is unlikely to will be a little clearer.

The highlight of Saturday is the defending champions Cameroon back on the stage when they take on Ghana but all three games look pretty competitive so it will be intriguing to see what they have in store for us.

Mauritania vs Angola (15.30)

Two sides who will be familiar with each other meet in the first of the three games on Saturday when Mauritania take on Angola. These two were in the same qualifying group which Angola came out on top in and if they do likewise here they will be into the knockout stages.

Mauritania were taken apart in their first match in the tournament and looked a little out of their depth whereas Angola did well to contain a strong Tunisia side and will be looking to kick on in the tournament from here on in. These two sides shared their qualifying matches with a win each but Angola won their match 4-1 and given that they look more settled at this level I think they will win here too.

Cameroon vs Ghana (18.00)

The big match of the day comes in the second contest on show when the two big guns in Group F collide as Cameroon continue their title defence against a Ghana side who entertained in their first game but who were a tad fortunate to come out on top.

I guess by virtue of the fact that it would suit them both, the draw is in play here, but I was much more impressed with Cameroon in their opening match against stiffer opposition and if there is a winner here I fancy it will be them. They have a good record in this tournament and will be keen to extend their title defence for as long as possible. The vulnerability Ghana showed defensively against Benin can be exploited here and so I’ll play Cameroon on the draw no bet market.

Benin vs Guinea-Bissau (21.00)

The final match in the second round of fixtures in the competition sees Benin going up against Guinea-Bissau probably to stay in the mix in the event after both lost their opening match of the tournament.

To be fair to Benin they gave it a really good go against Ghana and on another night they might have got something out of the game but their defensive frailties were highlighted for all to see which was concerning. I’m not sure what to make of Guinea-Bissau. My initial thoughts were that they were up against a strong side in Cameroon so they might be better judged on this outing so with that in mind I’ll leave this from a betting point of view.
