2019 Africa Cup of Nations – Thursday 11th July Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The semi-final line up for the Africa Cup of Nations will be finalised on Thursday when the last two quarter finals of the competition are played out in Egypt, as four more teams look to take themselves a step closer to glory.

Ivory Coast, Algeria and Tunisia are all in action on Thursday as they bid to join Senegal and Nigeria in the last four and move to within a couple of wins of taking the title and everything that happens to come with it.

Ivory Coast vs Algeria (17.00)

The big quarter final of the day on Thursday is the first one of the two as two genuine title contenders do battle when Ivory Coast take on Algeria in a clash which could give us an indication of who could land the trophy next week.

It has been an up and down campaign for the Ivory Coast thus far but they are into the quarter final and look to have a genuine shot at winning the tournament but they will need to be at their best against an Algeria side who have looked extremely comfortable so far at the event, and who you get the feeling there could be something special yet to come from.

I’m a little surprised we can get solid odds against on Algeria in this match. For me they have been the best team of the tournament by far and while I would have no problems backing Algeria just to win the match in a knockout stage when I can get draw cover I’m happy to take it, especially here when it is solid draw cover.

Madagascar vs Tunisia (20.00)

The last of the quarter finals in the tournament sees the surprise package of the competition in Madagascar taking on arguably the biggest disappointments of the campaign thus far in terms of performance to date in Tunisia.

Tunisia have drawn every match after 90 minutes in this competition and have generally looked flat and one-paced unlike Madagascar who have been quite vibrant at times and on the front foot. I’ve been keen on Madagascar throughout the campaign so far and while we’re getting towards the stage where you might expect their resources to be tested and maybe found out, I’m not sure Tunisia are the opponent to do it. Therefore I’ll take Madagascar on the Asian lines where a draw is all we need for a full pay out.
