2019 Africa Cup of Nations – Thursday 27th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Africa Cup of Nations continues on Thursday with three more matches including the first truly big clash of the tournament on what could be a compelling day of action in the African showpiece competition.

That clash sees the Group C giants Algeria and Senegal battling it out but the way the fixtures have come around, we should be in for three competitive games to round off the first week of action in the tournament.

Madagascar vs Burundi (15.30)

The opening match of the day sees the two lower ranked sides in Group B doing battle when Madagascar look to qualify for the knockout stages when they take on a Burundi side who must avoid defeat here to stay alive in the competition.

Madagascar defied expectation to get a point out of Guinea in their first match of the tournament while Burundi offered a competitive spirit in defeat to Nigeria but you sense both might open up here and look to take advantage of the opportunity available to them. I’m not sure which way this one will go, I wouldn’t rule out the draw but I’ve no massive interest in betting on this one.

Senegal vs Algeria (18.00)

The big match of the day comes along in the second offering of it when Senegal take on Algeria in what is likely to be the deciding match in Group C. Both teams won their opening games 2-0 so the winners here will be in pole position to claim top spot.

Both these sides contain a lot of attacking power in their ranks so that immediate makes them both tournament contenders and we might find out which one has the strongest chance of going all the way over the course of this 90 minutes. If there is a vulnerability in these two sides it comes in the defensive areas so the idea of both teams finding the back of the net appeals in this one. I’m hoping Algeria come out on top having backed them to win this section but both teams to score is my bet here.

Kenya vs Tanzania (21.00)

The final match of Thursday’s play is a lower key affair as Kenya and Tanzania do battle in what is likely to be a battle to remain in contention to qualify given that both lost their opening matches of the tournament relatively convincingly.

Both sides looked a little out of their depth in that opening set of games and I wonder what both will offer here. We know Kenya are a defensive outfit who don’t concede too many goals but whether they have the firepower to be useful at the other end remains to be seen. Tanzania did little to suggest they have much to offer in this match so I would favour Kenya to win here but I don’t have enough trust in them to back them.
