2019 Africa Cup of Nations – Tuesday 25th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The first round of matches in the Africa Cup of Nations comes to an end on Tuesday when the opening action in Group F takes place. We get to see the defending champions Cameroon taking to the stage to begin their title defence on a competitive looking day.

Ghana are the other big name on show in what might be the toughest of the groups to pick two qualifiers from so we should be in for some good play as the early stages of this section are played out.

Cameroon vs Guinea-Bissau (18.00)

All eyes will be on the defending champions first up here when they get their title defence underway against a Guinea-Bissau side who they will be expected to beat, but as we’ve seen so far in the tournament probably shouldn’t be underestimated.

Guinea-Bissau actually won their qualifying group which counts for something, although the section was full of draws so they picked up their wins at the right time in order to come through. That suggests they are at least tough to beat so it will be interesting to see if Cameroon can break them down. Although this is an extremely competitive Cameroon squad I don’t think it is as good as the outfit which won the title so I’m a little reluctant to get involved here before I see them in action.

Ghana vs Benin (21.00)

Benin begin their first Africa Cup of Nations campaign since 2010 when they take on Ghana in the final match of the first round of games in the tournament, with all eyes on the Black Stars to see if this is going to be their year.

Benin pushed Algeria all the way in qualifying for this event and we’ve already seen them go well in the tournament. Huddersfield striker Steve Mounie and former Sunderland star Stephane Sessegnon their key men but they only scored five goals in their group which is a concern. Ghana won their group but with the demise of Sierra Leone it became something of a farce in the end that section.

Ghana aren’t always the most convincing side in the world but I think they’ll have enough about them to win this game and I fancy they can do so without conceding a goal. Benin may look to be tight and get themselves into the tournament but they don’t score goals as a rule anyway. Ghana don’t concede many so the 7/5 Ghana to win to nil appeals most here.
