2019 Africa Cup of Nations – Wednesday 26th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The second set of group fixtures kick off in the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday when three more matches take place. Among a decent looking card we get to see the hosts for the second time along with a good support cast.

Egypt will be looking to qualify for the next stage of the tournament on what will be an interesting day after a nervy start to the competition. Nigeria will be looking to do likewise so we should be in for a good day of action.

Nigeria vs Guinea (15.30)

We actually open up in Group B when Nigeria go in search of a second win to begin their tournament when they take on Guinea. Nigeria got the job done against Burundi in the first game and you would expect them to build on that now.

Guinea were held by Madagascar in their opening match so they certainly can’t afford to lose this one. The positive was that they found the net on a couple of occasions and if you can score goals in this competition you have a good chance because it isn’t something that comes naturally to all the teams in the event. I’m expecting Nigeria to win this and I must admit the even money tempts me but a draw isn’t a bad result for either so I’ll sit this one out I think.

Uganda vs Zimbabwe (18.00)

The two lesser sides in Group A make up the middle match on Wednesday when Uganda look to qualify for the knockout stages when they go up against a Zimbabwe side who were not disgraced by the hosts in the opening game but still came away with nothing.

Uganda looked very impressive in seeing off DR Congo in their first game and if they can repeat that performance then they would look to have every chance here but I expect to see a lot more from Zimbabwe in the attacking areas because they do have a cutting edge, we just never saw it in that first game whether down to nerves or something else. Bookmakers odds for this one are quite tight and I understand that as I can’t call a winner so I’ll sit this one out.

Egypt vs DR Congo (21.00)

The final match of the day is the one the crowds will be desperate to see when the tournament hosts are up for the second time in the event, this time taking on DR Congo. Egypt will go in search of a second win in the competition here with DR Congo looking to put a disastrous performance behind them.

I had my doubts about DR Congo going into their match with Uganda and they were certainly justified with a sloppy display and an awful result. They need to find their best form here but even then they are up against it. If Egypt defend like they did in their first game it is hard to see where DR Congo break through. I expect Egypt to have more than enough to find the net here though but as a rule they don’t put teams to the sword as often as they should. I think Egypt winning but under 3.5 goals in the game is the way to play this one.
