2019 German Darts Grand Prix – Last 32 Betting Preview

The seeded players enter the German Darts Grand Prix on Sunday when the last 32 of the tournament is played out across two sessions of action out in Munich, as the third European Tour event of the campaign lights up.

All the big names who have come to the tournament will be on show either in the afternoon session or in the evening as the Easter festivities get going nicely in the German city. We have some good matches to look forward to on what should be a great day.

Afternoon Session

Second seed Ian White is the first player onto the stage on Sunday when he meets the Czech star Karel Sedlacek for a place in the last 16. Jonny Clayton will then look to continue his charge towards the top 10 in the world when he meets Ted Evetts before the Demolition Man, Darren Webster takes to the stage to face Nathan Derry. Danny Noppert takes us to the interval when he faces Stephen Bunting in a battle between two men whose best results came on the Lakeside stage.

The big names begin to stack up after the interval as Daryl Gurney takes on Kyle Anderson in what should be a high quality affair. Dave Chisnall then takes on Arron Monk before the highlight contest of the afternoon session takes place as James Wade meets Kim Huybrechts. The afternoon concludes with Adrian Lewis looking to progress to the last 16 when he takes on Ritchie Edhouse.

Evening Session

The home crowd will be at fever pitch right from the off in the evening session when he takes on Keegan Brown to open up proceedings. Michael van Gerwen then gets to take to the stage in the second match of the night when he faces Krzysztof Ratajski before Rob Cross meets Michael Rasztovits. Michael Smith takes us to the break in play when he faces Ricky Evans in a match which isn’t going to last long regardless of the score line.

Mensur Suljovic is the man who will bring us out of the interval. He doesn’t have an easy match against Josh Payne though. The last three matches all look like being competitive affairs too as Joe Cullen faces the current BDO world champion Glen Durrant. Simon Whitlock will need to be at his best to deal with Cristo Reyes and Peter Wright has a potentially awkward tussle with Ross Smith to have to negotiate.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the round of matches and both come in the evening session. If this tournament wasn’t in Germany, given his current form there is no way Max Hopp could be even money against Keegan Brown. I would have Brown as a huge favourite in the match. Hopp has barely won a match this year and while the big stage and home crowd could bring out his best I’m prepared to take the chance that Brown comes through here. Brown has already made a semi-final in the European Tour this season and he beat Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price to get there. He’s in decent touch so if he can deal with the crowd he’s a big price at evens.

Slightly later in the evening I can’t ignore the price of Ricky Evans to beat Michael Smith. Evans is seen as an erratic player because of the speed he plays at but he’s already made two finals this year, the second of which came in a European Tour event so he is in decent nick at the minute and is overpriced to take care of a Michael Smith who doesn’t look entirely happy with the game at the minute. The Premier League is proving to be something of a struggle and although his floor form has been decent enough his stage stuff hasn’t been the best. This should be closer than the odds suggest so I’ll play Evans at the price.
