2019 Mzansi Super League – Durban Heat vs Nelson Mandela Bay Giants Tips and Betting Preview

After a fascinating three matches in the Mzansi Super League this week the competition for spots in the playoff and final is intensifying and it is set to do so even further on Saturday when the Durban Heat take on the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants.

The Heat go into the match in fifth place in the table but they become serious players if they win this one while the Bay Giants are competing to return to the top of the pile, and with matches beginning to run out that is where teams want to be.

Durban Heat

The Durban Heat picked up their first win of the tournament last time out, but they are going to need to keep on winning if they are going to be around for the final stages of the competition. Admittedly they haven’t been helped by the weather that was doing the rounds at the beginning of the event, but that appears to have cleared up now so there are no excuses for them on that front. They need to replicate the display they showed last time out.

If the Heat are going to launch a charge and make it through to the latter stages of the event then they are going to need to find a way to restrict sides the longer the competition goes on. They have a good attack on paper, but unfortunately for them, their bowlers don’t bowl on paper. You would think when they get into a regular run of things they will find their groove which should in turn make them competitive.

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

The Nelson Mandela Bay giants have no such issues in that regard but they do go into this match off the back of their first defeat of the competition, so they will be looking to make up for that here. To be fair to them, they lost to a Paarl Rocks side who could well go on and win the tournament so that wasn’t the worst result in the world. It is important that they bounce back from that though because things are pretty tight now and could get tight should they lose here.

That match on Wednesday was the first time in the tournament that their batting hasn’t delivered the goods so it won’t take too much digging to see what they need to do to put things right. They will know they have already beaten the Durban Heat just last week although they only got home in the second to last ball of the match. That isn’t a bad thing but if they are to win they would like to do so a little more comfortably.

Betting

I fancy that win for the Durban Heat last time out could spur them into life. They beat a good side in confident fashion with a couple of key batsmen delivering the goods and that is all pretty significant in my eyes. As a result I fancy them to come out on top here. It will be interesting to see what the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants have to offer in this one. There is certainly a case that they are tailing off of their best form.

When you think a couple of big guns for the Durban Heat are yet to fire, but are too good to go the whole tournament without making an impact. That is a positive for me and I think now they have got a win under their belt we might well see them start to deliver their best cricket. One side is going in the right direction while the other is beginning to struggle so I’ll take the team moving forward which is the Durban Heat.
