2019 PDC World Darts Championship – Second Quarter Betting Preview

Usually the second quarter of any darts tournament is the most competitive one as it contains the number four and five seeds and while the top section perhaps has it covered here, we should still get some great action from this part of the PDC World Championship draw.

Gary Anderson is the highlight in this quarter as he looks to regain the title but there are dangers wherever he looks, not least in the form of the most recent TV tournament winner Daryl Gurney. This should be another entertaining run of matches.

Preview

This looks like a very heavy scoring section with a whole bunch of huge 180 hitters on show but as ever in tournaments like this it is who hits the doubles who will prevail not necessarily the best scorers. The quarter final is seeded to be Daryl Gurney vs Gary Anderson which would be tasty enough but it is far from guaranteed.

Dave Chisnall will fancy his chances of coming through the red section of the draw while Jamie Lewis won his quarter in the tournament last year so he knows he can do it. In the green part Darren Webster has twice been to the quarter final of this tournament, including 12 months ago where the aforementioned Lewis thrashed him.

Betting

Gary Anderson is all the rage in this quarter of the draw but at 8/11 I don’t really want to get involved. He is by far the likeliest winner of it but at this time of year with colds and fevers and things around the risk just isn’t worth it. At the same time I wouldn’t really want to take him on but there is one in the other half of the quarter who could offer value should anything happen to Anderson.

Dave Chisnall might actually have a really nice part of the draw here. Whoever he faces in the second round isn’t going to match him for scoring power and whether it is Kim Huybrechts, Robert Thornton or Daniel Larsson in the third round he will be facing a faded force. Daryl Gurney would be tougher in the last 16 but the Northern Irishman might have to go through a tussle with Jamie Lewis to get there. There’s a chance the red bit of this draw could open up so there is just enough value on Chisnall to take Anderson on with.
