2019 Specsavers County Championship – Monday 24th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

There are two matches in the Specsavers County Championship to get underway on Monday as the second division of the competition continues at a pace. We are heading into the second half of the campaign so each match is gaining significance now.

Lancashire are leading the way in this division but there is a good little race forming in behind them with the lure of the three promotion places making up some exciting and competitive cricket. More is likely to come on that score this week.

Leicestershire vs Northamptonshire

Two sides with plenty of work to do in order to get in the promotion race meet at Grace Road when Leicestershire take on Northamptonshire in a game neither can really afford to lose if they want to attempt to push for the top three.

Both sides sit in the bottom half of the table but a lot of drawn matches is one of the reasons for that. Northamptonshire haven’t won a game yet this season but they could well win here. They have only been beaten by the top two so they are pretty competitive. Even when Leicestershire had Gloucestershire three down for very few they still allowed them to make 600. With Matt Coles offering a bit of extra life to the Northants bowling and with the likes of Vasconcelos in good touch with the bat I think the visitors are worth siding with here.

Sussex vs Durham

The other match to get off on its journey on Monday sees third placed Sussex hosting bottom of the pile Durham in a clash that the odds suggest is going to be a one-sided contest and the table probably makes it look likewise it has to be said.

Sussex are in decent touch at the minute while Durham are in a serious rebuilding stage. There are times in this match when Durham will be competitive but you need more than just flashes of that against Sussex with their bowling attack and all of a sudden some of their batsmen beginning to fire up a tune as well. I expect Sussex to win this but I’m not 4/11 player when there is rain around at times this week.
