2019 Vitality Blast – Friday 9th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

There is a full night of Vitality Blast action on the schedule on Friday evening although it has to be said that another band of rain travelling through the UK over the course of the day could put paid to a number of matches.

If everything is clear then we will have a match on the TV which is the Roses game. Unfortunately the forecast for Old Trafford is not good. Many of the other matches will be on the county live streams and there is radio commentaries on the other matches.

North Group

The TV match on Friday night comes from the North Group as the leaders Lancashire host Yorkshire in the second Roses game of the season. Lancashire were victorious in the first of those meetings and are favourites to win once again. Leicestershire are on a bit of a charge after wins over Worcestershire and Birmingham Bears and they host Northamptonshire while the other two matches in this division see the Birmingham Bears taking on Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire playing host to Durham.

New customers only, bet up to £/€20 on the Exchange and if your first bet loses, we’ll refund you £/€20 in Cash. Bet must be placed in first 7 days of account opening. T&Cs apply.

South Group

All eyes will be on Hove in the South Group where two of the top three meet as Sussex host Middlesex. The latter are without AB de Villiers now so it will be interesting to see how they get on. Hampshire play host to Somerset at The Ageas Bowl in a repeat of the Royal London One Day Cup final. Glamorgan take on Essex in a match which both teams have to win while the other match comes from The Oval where Surrey will look to rebound from a beating by Middlesex on Thursday night when they entertain a Gloucestershire team who will be confident after beating Kent last time out.

Betting

When you look at the weather there isn’t going to be a huge amount of action over course of the night and much of it that does take place is likely to be truncated so betting isn’t going to be too easy. In the end I’ve gone through the forecasts, markets and the odds and there is one I’m happy to chance although even that could be impacted by the weather.

It comes from Edgbaston where I expect Nottinghamshire to beat Birmingham Bears. We saw the other night the impact that injuries are having on this Birmingham Bears side and while Nottinghamshire are a little hit and miss I think they have the tools to get this one done. Nottinghamshire certainly have the better bowling attack of these two and more power in the top of their batting. They are the two things I look for in a rain affected game so Nottinghamshire have enough going for them to merit a bet in my eyes.
